Back in Time to Fall for Him novel Chapter 28

Sam was torn, unable to make up his mind. Should he just do it?

"Done!" Madison stepped back after fastening his cufflinks, her eyes sparkling like stars as she once again took him in from head to toe.

"Just as I thought—these cufflinks go perfectly with that suit."

Sam's gaze fell on the dark green emerald cufflinks. Their surface caught the light with a subtle, enigmatic gleam. They really did complement the suit, and they fit him perfectly as well.

At that moment, his heart that had been left empty for so long felt full.

Unable to hold back any longer, he grabbed Madison's wrist, pulling her into his arms and holding her tightly.

"Maddie…" His chin grazed the top of her head, and his voice came out low and tender.

Madison stiffened for a moment when he hugged her, but she quickly relaxed right after.

Thinking of him calling her name earlier, she wrapped her arms around his toned waist. She closed her eyes in contentment, whispering, "I'm right here."

Her short reply struck a chord deep within Sam. He wished he could just hold her so close that they would never be able to part.

Just as the mood was getting good, Edmund suddenly said, "Mr. Goodwin, Ms. Quinn, dinner is…"

Before he could even finish his sentence, he froze, stunned by the scene before him. Immense relief and bittersweet joy soon overwhelmed him.

Madison and Sam had finally reconciled. He no longer had to worry about Sam hurting himself over Madison anymore.

Just as he was deep in thought, the two turned toward him.

Realizing he had intruded, Edmund quickly waved his hands. "Dinner can wait. Please pretend I never said anything and continue."

With that, he hurried out of the living room.

Madison smiled subtly as she watched Edmund hurrying out of sight. She then tiptoed, planting a gentle kiss on Sam's cheek.

At her tender touch, his eyes darkened instantly.

Before he could react, Madison pulled away, saying, "Alright. Go change out of the suit. We can have dinner together once you're done."

Sam stared at her charming smile, feeling a little deflated, but he didn't refuse.

Back in his room, he smiled at his reflection in the mirror, admiring himself in the new suit.

Wanting to capture this meaningful moment, he snapped a photo of himself with his phone before posting it on Instagram with the caption, "A gift from her."

His thoughts kept returning to when Madison called him handsome and the attentive way she had put on the cufflinks.

His hollow, self-deprecating laugh filled the quiet space.

Sam covered his misty eyes with his hand. Looking fragile, he tilted his head back as his final act of stubbornness.

Meanwhile, Madison sat in the dining room, waiting for Sam the entire time. Noticing that it had already been a while, she wondered if he was still in the walk-in closet, admiring the clothes she bought him.

She couldn't help but laugh as she recalled seeing the photo Sam had subtly flaunted online.

Sam had always been stern, cold, and domineering. She never knew he had such a cute side.

She had to go upstairs to see for herself.

Madison got up and was about to go upstairs when Sam walked into the dining room expressionlessly in his casual clothes.

"Oh, you're finally here. I was just about to go get you."

Seeing her standing there with a playful smile, Sam felt his heart was being crushed, leaving him breathless.

He clenched his fists tightly, using all his strength to resist the impulse to question her.
