Back in Time to Fall for Him novel Chapter 29

What good would questioning Madison do? Sam believed it would only lead to answers that would humiliate him.

"Let's eat." Sam lowered his gaze, concealing all the pain and turmoil in his eyes.

Since he had always been cold and distant, Madison didn't immediately sense anything was wrong.

Throughout the meal, she tried to break the ice to bring them closer together. Sam remained indifferent the entire time, but that was until she brought up the class reunion.

"By the way, Sam, I'm going to a class reunion tomorrow."

"A reunion?" Sam froze mid-motion, suddenly recalling that Benjamin had mentioned this. He had just forgotten about it because of Madison's recent strange behavior.

When he recalled Benjamin telling him the true purpose of the reunion, his face turned extremely dark.

Back then, Benjamin had said, "Mr. Goodwin, Johnny's afraid that you'll disapprove of his marriage to Ms. Quinn. Hence, he's working with Kaitlyn to organize a reunion.

"He plans to announce the marriage there, seal the deal by sleeping with Ms. Quinn, and have journalists spread it to make their engagement official."

Though Madison wasn't aware of his thoughts, his sudden grim expression made her tense.

What happened? Why was he suddenly upset?

As she recalled what she had just said, a thought struck her.

"Sam, do you not want me to go to the reunion?" She studied him intently.

As Sam looked at her, they held each other's gaze.

His unfathomable gaze resembled a shattered mirror that was reflecting his boundless disappointment and pain.

Eventually, he could contain himself no longer, asking hoarsely, "Everything you did today… It was all to stop me from preventing you from attending the reunion with Johnny, wasn't it?

"You plan to announce your marriage there, make it a done deal, and get the media to spread it so that I'm forced to protect your reputation by agreeing to your marriage with Johnny!"

By the end of his remark, he was practically speaking through gritted teeth. The glass in his hand had even shattered from how hard he was squeezing.

Clinging to him desperately, she exclaimed anxiously, "I'll never marry that piece of trash. You're not allowed to say such things anymore, Sam! The only one I want to marry is you!"

Sam's pupils quivered as he stared at her in a daze.

Instantly, anger welled up in his chest. Even now, Madison still thought she could deceive him.

He shut his eyes, aching inside.

When he opened his eyes again, they were ice-cold. He grabbed Madison's wrist, yanking her away from him.

Caught off guard, Madison stumbled back for a while before regaining her balance.

Sam's voice rang out above her head. It was resolute and filled with restrained fury.

"Madison, you liar! After all you've done, you really think I would still believe you?"
