Back in Time to Fall for Him novel Chapter 31

The next day was the day of the class reunion.

Despite Johnny and Kaitlyn sitting around waiting for Madison to contact them, she never did.

With the reunion less than an hour away, the two could no longer sit idly and contacted Madison.

"Hello?" Madison spoke in a lazy drawl. Some background noise could be heard, though it was impossible to make out.

Johnny barely noticed the noise. As soon as the call connected, he impatiently blurted out, "Babe, where are you? Why didn't you come today?

"Did you forget we're going to the reunion? And the clothes you bought me are still with you. How am I supposed to go to the reunion without them?"

Madison couldn't help but laugh, exasperated by his audacious and shameless questioning.

She waved away the water cup that a stylist at the studio was trying to hand her and said coldly, "First of all, don't call me 'babe.' It grosses me out. Call me Ms. Quinn."

More importantly, he didn't want Sam to hear that and misunderstand her again.

"Second, the suit and cufflinks I bought yesterday weren't for you. As for the reunion, how could I forget about that? I'll be there shortly."

Johnny was stunned by her calm, distant tone. Before he could respond, Madison's indifferent voice came through again. "Do you have anything else to say?"

The implication being, if not, she was going to hang up.

Johnny's frustration flared instantly. What kind of attitude was this?

He was about to say something when Kaitlyn nudged him, and he turned around. She shot him a look, making it clear that they needed Madison to pick them up.

To avoid embarrassment, they spent a fortune renting a luxury car.

On the way to the reunion, Johnny was in agony over the money, clutching his phone and vowing, "When I see Madison, I'm going to make her pay me back a hundredfold for this!"

Kaitlyn gave him a sidelong look. She felt uneasy upon recalling Madison's tone over the phone.

"Johnny, don't you think that ever since Madison made a huge scene at Goodwin Corp, she's been acting strange toward us?

"She hasn't reached out to you in the past couple of days, and the clothes she bought weren't for you. Could she be seeing someone else?" Kaitlyn's face grew solemn as she spoke.

Johnny scoffed. "Madison? Seeing someone else? Not a chance! Look, she's just playing hard to get, expecting me to placate her.

"Just watch. Once I give Madison a little attention at the reunion, she'll be handing everything right back to me."
