Back in Time to Fall for Him novel Chapter 30

"Madison, you said you wouldn't marry Johnny and wanted me to believe you the last time as well. And what did you do when I gave you another chance? You went on a date with him!

"Did you think I'd be placated just because you gave me Johnny's rejects? Am I that worthless to you that you can just—" Before Sam could finish, Madison pressed her lips against his.

Sam froze for a beat. When he came to his senses, he tried to push her away.

But this time, Madison was ready. Holding his wrists firmly, she straddled him again.

While pressing her forehead against his, she sniffled, pleading, "Sam, can you please hear me out? It was my mistake for not telling you I was with him today, but it's absolutely not what you think!"

Maybe he didn't want to hurt her, or he still secretly hoped for something. Either way, Sam made no move to pull her away again.

He merely pressed his lips together and said nothing.

Sensing his lack of resistance, Madison was relieved. She quickly explained everything that had happened that day.

"So that's basically what happened. I didn't go on a date with Johnny. And the suit and cufflinks I got you aren't Johnny's rejects. They were things I carefully picked out for you.

"I didn't get anything for Johnny today, and I'll never buy him stuff again. If you don't believe me, you can check my phone. The only things I spent money on today were the suit and cufflinks."

Pulling out her phone, Madison showed him her bank transaction records. Right then, she wanted to swear she was telling the truth to prove her sincerity.

And if she could, she wanted nothing more than to go back in time to smack some sense into her lovesick self for being dumb enough to give Sam the items Johnny rejected.

Sam stared at Madison intensely, his mind in turmoil. "But you're still going to the reunion…"

"My reason for going to the reunion is something else entirely."

Cupping his face again, Madison lowered her head to look straight into his eyes, speaking in a serious voice.

"How could I not get back at Johnny and Kaitlyn after they tried to play me? Since they want to use my reputation to force you to agree to the marriage, then I'll use this opportunity to outplay them."

Sam's face remained tense. He stayed silent, clearly still unconvinced.

Madison's eyes watered. She promised herself she would protect him and never let anyone hurt him in this life.

After dinner, Sam went straight to his study since there was still work to do. He had barely sat down when his phone started buzzing with notifications.

"Sam, you're joking, right? One suit is enough to get you wrapped around her finger? Have you forgotten all the times you got tricked? I just don't get it. What's so great about Madison that you can't let her go?"

The messages were from Maddox Carlton, one of Sam's old friends. He must have seen Sam's Instagram post.

Sam frowned in displeasure. He knew Maddox meant well, but he couldn't stand anyone badmouthing Madison.

He simply replied, "She's amazing."

"Wow… Madison's lovesickness has clearly rubbed off on you! You two are hopeless."

After staring at the message for two seconds, Sam ignored it and focused on his work.
