"Maddie, let me explain! It's not what it looks like!" Johnny recovered quickly. He tried to reach out to Madison and explain things to her.
However, Madison stepped backward in contempt when he reached for her. "Don't touch me. You're filthy."
Kaitlyn finally came to her senses. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw the look of revulsion mingled with confusion on Madison's face.
What was going on?
Madison should have been the one lying there. How did Madison end up catching Kaitlyn in the act?
However, Kaitlyn did not have time to think about it. She had to convince Madison that she was innocent. "Maddie, I don't know what's going on, but trust me! I didn't betray you!"
"That's the biggest joke I've heard all day!"
Janet crossed her arms and sneered at Kaitlyn. "You're lying in bed with her fiance, and you claim that you haven't betrayed her?"
Their other classmates came out after hearing the ruckus. When they came to the doorway and realized what had happened, they exchanged extremely awkward looks.
Although they did believe Kaitlyn and Johnny were very compatible, they had only been making casual comments. They had never imagined that the two of them would be immoral enough to get together behind Madison's back.
Kaitlyn looked both embarrassed and angry when she heard what Janet had said.
However, Janet was the Burke heiress. Kaitlyn dared not lose her temper with Janet and merely looked pleadingly at Madison. "Maddie—"
"That's enough. Stop explaining. I only believe what I see for myself." Madison interrupted coldly before Kaitlyn could finish.
Her gaze swept over their bodies, hidden underneath the blanket, and turned away in disdain.
"I'll give you ten minutes to get dressed properly. After that, we'll settle the score for what you've done to me all these years." She strode off.
Upon seeing this, the remaining crowd had to leave, even though they were reluctant to do so. They all followed Madison out of the room.
Once everyone was gone and the door was closed, Johnny could no longer suppress his temper. He turned to Kaitlyn and snapped at her. "What's going on? Why are you the one with me?"
After a moment, he seemed to come to a decision. He looked up at the woman in front of him. "Kate."
Kaitlyn understood what he was implying. He wanted her to give up her friendship with Madison. It would be better for at least one of them to be forgiven, rather than for neither.
However, she felt that it was unfair. If she lost Madison, she would lose the wealthy lifestyle she currently had.
"Is there really no other way?" Kaitlyn persisted, looking at Johnny.
Johnny knew exactly what she was thinking, but he would have to prioritize his own benefits over hers.
He pulled her into his arms and said earnestly but somberly, "If Madison hadn't caught us in bed, there would have been room to maneuver, but she found us.
"If you insist on being friends with Madison, it'll be like a thorn in her side. It would remind her every moment of our betrayal. If that happens, our sacrifices over the past few years would have all been for nothing.
"Of course, I know what you're worried about. Don't worry. I promise that your quality of life won't change after you leave Madison. I'll spend her money on you."
