The hotel manager arrived quickly.
As soon as he stepped into the private room, he had the good sense to greet Madison first. "Ms. Quinn, I'm the hotel manager, Caleb Locke."
Sam had made it clear before. He might run Quinn Group, but the real owner was always Madison. So when the two of them were together, she came first.
After introducing himself to her, Caleb turned to Sam with a respectful nod. "Mr. Goodwin."
Sam gave a mild nod in return.
The rest of the room just stared, too shocked to speak.
Janet took in everyone's stunned faces and finally felt vindicated.
She gave a short huff. "Now do you believe it? Madison isn't the broke nobody you've been calling her. Johnny and Kaitlyn are the ones leeching off her like ticks, bleeding her dry, putting on airs, and pretending they're rich!
"Madison kept quiet because she's kind, and that only gave people an excuse to mock her."
At that, everyone's expressions tightened.
A glint flashed in Caleb's eyes. Then, he looked at Madison and asked respectfully, "Ms. Quinn, what would you like me to do?"
"Nothing major. People from my college didn't believe I'm the chairperson of Quinn Group, so I asked you to come confirm it," Madison said with a light smile.
Hearing that, Caleb straightened and addressed the room. "Everyone, Ms. Quinn is indeed the chairperson of Quinn Group."
As the hotel manager, his word carried weight, and people believed him.
Awkward chuckles went around as they chimed in.
"We get it now."
At that, people started giving them weird looks.
Feeling the odd looks, Kaitlyn couldn't help cursing Johnny out in her head. What kind of stupid excuse was that?
Even so, she kept her mouth shut. Janet was obviously gunning for them. Whatever they said would just get mocked.
Seeing the two of them left speechless by the barbs, Madison gave Janet a grateful wink. She knew Janet was coming down on Johnny and Kaitlyn not just to vent for herself, but to back her up.
Janet caught Madison's grateful look and tipped her chin up, a little smug. The slight curl at her lip gave her away. She was clearly pleased.
After that wordless exchange with her old friend, Madison had no intention of wasting more time.
She looked at the two of them, expression blank. "Johnny, Kaitlyn, have you figured out how you're paying the money back?"
Then, something occurred to her, and she turned to Caleb. "Mr. Locke, please total what we spent yesterday and give the bill to Johnny. He said he'd cover it."
