Back in Time to Fall for Him novel Chapter 63

Madison nodded to show she understood, then turned and went back to her room. After she shut the door, she leaned against it, her disappointment plain to see.

If she hadn't flinched at physical contact, she could've used the ointment as an excuse to stay close to Sam and build a connection.

The next morning, at first light, Madison walked out of her room in a simple, elegant black work outfit. She had her long hair swept into a neat bun at the back.

In slippers, she skipped into the living room and saw Sam sitting at the dining table in a black bespoke suit.

"Sam, how does this look for the office?"

Madison came up to him with a cheerful bounce and did a quick twirl to show it off.

At her voice, Sam looked up and met her sparkling eyes, plainly angling for a compliment. He looked her up and down, taking in what she had on that day.

She was in a black uniform cut for women, its tailored fit tracing every line of her figure. Her legs, especially, looked extra fair and eye-catching against the black.

The thought of others noticing her beauty made Sam's expression harden. He said evenly, "Skirts aren't practical for work. Go put on pants."

Madison didn't think twice about it. She said "Okay" and headed upstairs to change into another work outfit.

When Sam saw she was fully covered, a flicker of satisfaction showed in his eyes, but he kept his expression neutral.

He told her it was time for breakfast, and then they headed to the office right after.

Goodwin Corp's headquarters sat on the prime stretch of Ardelisse's business district. The high-rise that scraped the sky made its clout obvious.

It was the morning rush hour, and employees in sharp work attire streamed into the building from every direction.

Just then, a black Maybach eased to a stop at the front entrance. Benjamin got out of the front passenger seat, moved respectfully to the rear, and opened the door.

Sam stepped out but didn't walk away immediately. He turned back, reached into the car, and a hand found his. Feeling the softness, his fingers tightened before he gave a gentle tug.

"Huh?"

Madison looked up, confused, and found Sam watching her with an approving look.

He said pointedly, "You asked to come here and learn. So no matter what you run into, I'm not letting you bail halfway."

Madison blinked for a couple of seconds before the meaning finally clicked.

That "not bad" was his way of praising her for keeping her cool while everyone else whispered about her. The rest was a reminder of the challenges ahead.

Madison met his eyes, her gaze steady. "Don't worry, Sam. I wouldn't bail halfway!"

Sam gave her a long look and made a quiet sound of assent.

Then, without turning around, he told Benjamin, "Take Madison to HR in a bit for the onboarding paperwork, then walk her through every floor."
