Yelena glanced out the window at Simon. Her beautiful eyes narrowed before she nodded slightly.

"Alright. Let's talk over there." She tilted her chin toward the nearby grove.

Simon nodded and led the way. Soon, the two of them stood facing each other under a large tree.

Yelena crossed her arms, her voice cool. "What is it you want to say?"

"Let's join forces, Yelena," Simon said bluntly, laying bare his plans. "I know you're ambitious and tired of Dad's favoritism. I promise you—once Sam's out of the picture, we'll split the company equally."

Yelena arched her brow, studying him with an unreadable expression. "That's quite generous of you, Simon, especially just to win me over."

"You're my sister. Of course, I'd be generous with you," he replied smoothly, pretending not to notice the sarcasm.

"Once I take control, I'll pressure the Langfords and make sure Cedric treats you properly from then on," he added.

Back then, Yelena had defied William's choice of marriage and insisted on marrying Cedric. From that point on, William had washed his hands of her affairs. That was why Cedric's arrogance had only grown worse with time.

Yelena's gaze flickered with a sharp glint. After a brief pause, she tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and said evenly, "Give me a few days to think about it."

Simon wasn't disappointed by her lack of an immediate answer. Yelena might be foolish in love, but she was sharp when it came to other matters.

"Alright. I'll be waiting for good news," Simon said with a nod before walking away.

Once he was gone, Yelena stood there for a moment, thoughtful, before returning to the car.

Jason leaned in eagerly the second she opened the door. "Mom, what did Uncle Simon want?"

Jason rubbed his head, watching helplessly as Yelena launched into another lecture. He really hated the idea of working.

Meanwhile, back in Simon's car, Lydia turned to him expectantly. "How did it go? Did Yelena agree?"

She already knew what Simon had gone to discuss. If Yelena joined them, they would gain a powerful ally. After all, Yelena's business acumen far surpassed Simon's.

Simon shook his head. "She didn't agree right away, but I don't think she'll refuse."

"That's good," Lydia said, smiling. Her heart was already alight with anticipation.

At least with Yelena's support, Lydia wouldn't have to endure those social gatherings where she would get mocked for the company's poor performance.

If those events weren't obligatory, she would have stopped going long ago. Other wives would flaunt their husbands' achievements, while she sat there smiling awkwardly, too embarrassed to speak.
