Back in Time to Fall for Him novel Chapter 93

Simon had no idea what Lydia was thinking. Shifting the topic, he said, "Cooperation isn't the priority. What matters most now is making sure Sam doesn't secure Project ET."

His eyes darkened as he spoke. "I'd rather see someone else take it than let him succeed. If he does, it'll be nearly impossible for us to topple him later."

Hearing this, Ethan asked, "Do you have a plan, Dad?"

"Not before. But now that Sam's brought Madison into headquarters, I do," Simon replied, his lips curving into a sly smile.

Before he could go on, Ethan blurted out what he was thinking. "Are you planning to use her to leak the project details?"

Simon nodded. "Exactly. It wouldn't be the first time she's pulled something like that. Let her take the blame, and no one will suspect us.

"When that happens, Sam will defend her again like he always does. That's when we rally the board and pressure your grandfather. Even if he wants to protect Sam, he'll have to put the company first."

Ethan nodded, pleased that their thoughts aligned. He lowered his voice. "Dad, I've already sent someone to get close to Madison. In a few days, we'll have the core data for Project ET."

Simon looked at him, surprised. "You've already arranged it?"

"I figured you wouldn't let an opportunity like this slip, so I made preparations in advance."

Simon's satisfaction deepened at Ethan's foresight. He smiled approvingly. "Good. Since you've already taken care of it, I'll leave the rest to you."

That was exactly what Ethan wanted to hear. He nodded. "I'll make sure everything goes perfectly. I won't let you down."

"Excellent. I'll be waiting for good news."

After leaving the Goodwin residence, Sam drove Madison straight back to Northcrest Villa.

If she deceived him again, no amount of love would bring him back.

Hearing the unspoken warning beneath his words, Madison quickly said, "I won't, Sam. I really have changed. I'll never do anything to hurt you again."

Sam held her gaze for a long moment before releasing her hand. "You'd better not. Go rest."

She nodded obediently and headed upstairs. But once she was in her room, unease crept in.

If something went wrong with Project ET, wouldn't she be the most likely suspect? No, she had to tell him.

She turned to leave the room, but she stopped after taking a few steps. If she brought it up now, would Sam think she was trying to make excuses in advance? Would he misunderstand her?

After a moment's hesitation, she decided she would stay cautious and stay by Sam's side as much as possible, or keep herself in places covered by surveillance cameras.
