Chapter 299
The rescue operation was swift. In less than half an hour, everyone was safely brought to the surface.
The ambulances had been waiting for a whole week, day and night. As soon as Sierra and the others got out, they were rushed straight into the ambulances.
Elliot walked into the ambulance on his own. He was looking much better, though his limbs were still weak, but his mouth just wouldn’t stop running.
Elliot said, “Leonard, my jewelry company didn’t go bankrupt, right? And did you keep an eye on the lucky money tree outside my office? My rival from Glenwood is always up to shady tricks!
“Oh, and what about Vivian? She didn’t pass out from worry, did she? My phone’s dead. Jon, let me use yours. I need to call Vivian myself and let her know we’re okay. Can’t have her stressing out over Sierra.”
Leonard could feel a headache coming on after listening to all that.
By the end, he just couldn’t take it anymore and smacked Elliot on the shoulder. “I had my assistant move your lucky money tree into your office. Your jewelry company’s not going to crash just because you’re not there.
“It’ll be fine for now. Vivian has been worried sick these past few days. She had been waiting at the hospital for six hours already. Go talk to her yourself.”
Elliot finally shut up and hopped into the same ambulance as Sierra.
The doctor said, “Hey, only one person can lie down in here…”
Elliot just grinned. “No problem, just hand me a stool. Sierra is the one who really needs to lie down. She hurts the worst. I’ll just sit and keep an eye on her.”
He said it and climbed into the ambulance himself, and didn’t even need the doctor to help him up.
Everyone was speechless.

The rescue happened right as the sun was setting, so it was pretty dim outside. Thanks to Sierra setting up lights in the tunnel every now and then, nobody had trouble with the sunlight when they got out. They got used to it pretty fast.
As soon as they arrived at the hospital, everyone got checked out right away.
Sierra’s forehead wound had gotten infected. After removing the infected tissue, she needed eighteen stitches.
Sophie and the others were mostly fine: Thanks to the smart way they rationed food and water, and Leonard somehow got supplies in, they just needed some IV fluids to help them recover quickly.
As for the two kids, their bodies were covered in fresh and old wounds, a clear sign they’d suffered inhuman abuse.
After spending so long in that tunnel, the fact that they didn’t get sick was honestly a miracle.
The doctors guessed the kids had only been kidnapped recently and since their parents had taken good care of them before, they had strong immune systems.
Sierra’s forehead wound got infected mostly because she was just way too busy. The massive zoo she managed and all those wild animals constantly needing her help left her with no time to breathe.
