She gritted her teeth; even though her legs were weak with terror, she refused to utter a single word about Sienna.
That was the mentor who had guided and protected her, and she absolutely refused to sell her out.
"It seems you want to do this the hard way."
Seeing that she was completely stubborn, Eleanor sneered and immediately gave an order to the bodyguard. "Call the hospital director. Fire this intern named Lynn Zeller immediately.
And put the word out—if any hospital or medical institution in this entire country dares to hire her, they are making an enemy of the Sterlings!"
"Yes, ma'am!" the bodyguard responded, immediately pulling out his phone.
Lynn completely broke down. Tears streamed down her face as she stood helplessly in place, clasping her hands together and begging endlessly. "Eleanor, I was wrong, please don't fire me, I really don't know..."
But Eleanor was dead set on making an example out of her. She turned a deaf ear, her eyes as cold as ice. "Make the call right now!"
"Hold it right there!"
Right at this critical moment, a crisp voice rang out from the doorway.
Everyone's movements froze for a second.
Sienna pushed the door open, her crutch tapping against the floor as she walked in step by step.
Her left leg was still wrapped in bandages, and she walked with a slight limp.
Her gaze swept past Eleanor's face, landed on Lynn, and then pulled back.
Jarred's eyes had already snapped toward her the moment he heard her voice.
He was dressed in all black today, his shirt sleeves rolled up to his forearms, revealing the smooth lines of his wrists.
Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the blinds, falling across his profile and casting half his face in deep shadow while illuminating the hard lines of his jaw.
Their faces turned as black as thunder, their eyes filled with pure rage.
Hearing this, Celeste cried even more brokenheartedly from the bed. "Dr. Sloan, I know you don't like me, but you can't frame me like this..."
She covered her mouth, tears streaming down her cheeks, looking every bit the victim of severe bullying who couldn't defend herself.
It perfectly cemented Sienna's image as an arrogant, unreasonable tyrant, making the two older women feel even more heartbroken for Celeste.
Watching her put on this hypocritical act, Sienna couldn't help but let out a scoff.
"Ms. Carlyle, there are so many people watching right now. If you want to put on a sob story, you'd better wait until the room is cleared. With so many eyes on you, if you overact, it's easy to slip up."
A flash of viciousness quickly darted through Celeste's eyes, but on the surface, she just cried even louder.
Sienna couldn't be bothered to look at her anymore. She raised her hand, pointed at the medical staff off to the side, and said to Eleanor, "I'm the one you're looking for. Let these innocent bystanders go."
