Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 117

She was violently yanked backward, losing her balance completely and crashing heavily onto the floor.

Her already injured leg was crushed underneath her weight, and an excruciating, agonizing pain instantly tore through her entire body.

The pain was so severe her vision instantly blurred, black spots dancing in front of her eyes.

By the time she managed to force her consciousness back to focus, all she saw was Jarred's tall, broad back.

He was holding Celeste's shoulders tightly, his face filled with absolute panic and heartache.

The delicate, careful way he held her made it seem as though she were his most cherished treasure.

The deep, unshakeable concern in his eyes was a gentleness she had never once seen from him.

Eleanor and Helena had already rushed to the bed, frantically hammering the call button.

"Doctor! Get in here, doctor!"

"Celeste, hang on! You have to hang on!"

In the entire hospital room, everyone's eyes were fixed entirely on the agonizingly wailing Celeste.

Not a single person cast so much as a glance at Sienna, who lay collapsed on the floor, her face completely distorted in pain.

It wasn't until the doctors and nurses rushed in at the commotion.

One look and they immediately spotted Sienna curled up on the floor, her entire body wracked with agonizing waves of pain.

"Oh my god! Dr. Sloan!"

A nurse gasped in shock, immediately rushing over to lift her onto her back and quickly sprinting toward Sienna's hospital room.

Only then did Jarred seem to violently snap back to reality.

Seeing Sienna being carried away, his pupils constricted, and his instinct was to immediately step forward and chase after her.

Jarred stood there unmoving, his figure still tall and straight. His suit accentuated his solitary stature, his back proud but radiating an overwhelming, chaotic panic.

He clenched his fists tightly. "I won't let her be crippled. I will find the best specialists in the whole world. If one doesn't work, I'll find ten. If ten don't work, I'll find a hundred, until her leg is completely cured!"

Hearing this, Eleanor stomped her foot in frustrated disappointment. "Is that what Celeste really wants?"

Jarred turned around, his expression terrifyingly dark. "If her leg can't be fixed, I'll pay her back with one of mine! If that's still not enough, I'll pay her with my life! Is that enough for you?"

The bloodshot intensity in his eyes instantly left Eleanor and Helena frozen in place, unable to speak another word.

Jarred took one last look at Celeste on the bed, his gaze impossibly complicated—filled with guilt, and resignation, but absolutely devoid of any love.

The next second, he didn't hesitate anymore, turning and taking massive strides in the direction Sienna had been taken.

Even surrounded by all the chaos, his back looked so incredibly lonely it broke the heart.
