Sienna was in so much agony she almost lost consciousness.
By the time she regained awareness, the nurse had already carried her back to her hospital room.
The nurse didn't dare waste a second, immediately contacting Sienna's attending doctor and rapidly getting ahold of Jonathan Coleman.
The surgical lights were blindingly bright.
The attending doctor rushed over and pulled back the thin blanket covering Sienna's leg.
After inspecting the injury, he took the freshly developed X-rays from the nurse, his brow knotting into a tight frown.
"How long has it even been? It hasn't even been a day, how did it get completely destroyed like this? I repeatedly warned you that you needed proper rest. Do you just not want this leg anymore?"
Sienna was half-delirious from the pain, cold sweat completely soaking through her hospital gown. She couldn't even form a complete sentence, left with only shallow, weak breaths.
Jonathan stood off to the side, his heart clenching tightly as he watched his protégé in near-comatose agony.
Seeing that Sienna was in too much pain to speak, he knew he couldn't ask her what had happened.
He immediately turned his head, his gaze heavy as it locked onto the young nurse who had just carried her back, his eyes scrutinizing her. "What happened?"
The young nurse grew a little nervous under his stare, quickly explaining in a low voice, "I... I don't really know the exact details.
The emergency bell went off in Dr. Carlyle's room, and when we rushed over, we just saw Dr. Sloan already lying on the floor..."
Hearing Celeste's name, Jonathan's frown deepened, a faint flash of freezing hostility sweeping through his eyes.
He didn't push the issue further, merely looking at the attending doctor, his voice steady. "Save her first."
The attending doctor let out a sigh and didn't waste any more words.
He immediately signaled the assistant nurses to prep the instruments and began emergency treatment.
The young nurse frantically handed over the tools, her fingertips trembling slightly. Staring at Sienna's injured leg, she hesitated before softly calling out, "Doctor... look at this..."
Jonathan felt a sharp pang of sorrow in his chest. Looking at his protégé, completely covered in injuries and completely brokenhearted, he instantly understood what she meant.
He gave a gentle nod, his voice warm. "Don't worry, let me handle it."
After saying that, he exchanged a few quick, hushed words with the attending doctor, pushed open the operating room door, and walked out.
In the hallway, the lighting felt cold and desolate.
Jarred had been standing outside the operating room for a very long time.
His noble, impeccably tailored suit made him look incredibly striking in the stark hospital environment.
He never smoked, but right now, an unlit cigarette was pinched between his fingers.
A rare, suppressed anxiety hid between his brows, his eyes completely filled with worry.
Hearing the sound of the door opening, Jarred immediately looked up, assuming Sienna was being wheeled out, and instinctively took a step forward.
