"Mom!"
Jarred growled, his gaze turning so somber that Helena choked on her words in shock.
Sienna's eyes were glazed over, seemingly deaf to the chaos around her.
Staring at the pen and paper the doctor handed her, she felt utterly deprived of oxygen.
She held the pen, but she could not form a single legible letter.
Her hands, gripping the consent form, began to tremble uncontrollably.
Everyone stared at her in horror.
Jarred wrapped his arms tightly around her shoulders. Sienna tried to push him away, but her strength was gone.
It was as if her limbs suddenly refused to obey her commands.
Right then, an innocent-sounding voice drifted over. "Doctor, if someone has a severe psychiatric issue, does that legally disqualify them from signing a surgical consent form as a guardian?"
Everyone, including Sienna, turned in shock to look at Celeste sitting in her wheelchair.
The doctor instantly understood what she was implying.
Just to be safe, he glanced at the violently trembling Sienna and stammered, "What do you mean by that?"
Celeste ignored the doctor, turning instead to Jarred. "I'm sorry, Jarred, for revealing Sienna's secret without your permission.
I don't know exactly how severe her condition is, but I heard from the interns working under Director Coleman that she has been exhibiting sudden, irrational behavior lately, which has severely impacted her daily life and work.
Owen is at such a critical turning point in his treatment. Setting aside her violent outburst today, what if her condition jeopardizes his recovery during the process?"
Listening to those fabricated lies, a suffocating wave of fury surged through Sienna.
She wanted to scream, to defend herself, but she couldn't make a sound.
Every function in her body seemed disconnected from her brain.
Aside from shivering uncontrollably, she was entirely paralyzed.
Her bloodshot eyes locked onto Celeste.
Beneath that mask of feigned pity, a fleeting flash of triumph in Celeste's eyes was impossible to hide.
But Celeste wasn't done playing the victim.
"Jarred, her episode looks far worse this time. Jonathan is her attending physician. You really should take her back to him immediately," Celeste advised with mock sweetness.
"I'll stay here and keep an eye on Owen. Don't worry."
"No!"
Sienna's restraint finally shattered.
She let out an agonizing scream, her rigid body suddenly breaking free from its paralysis.
Stumbling forward, she snatched a pair of medical shears from a nearby tray, spun around, and lunged directly at Celeste.
In the chaos, a dark figure flashed in front of her.
Warm liquid sprayed across her face, blinding her completely. All the noise in the hallway faded into dead silence.
A second later, a sharp pain pierced her arm. Her body went entirely limp, and she lost consciousness.
