Begging for a Second Chance (Sienna Sloan and Jarred Sterling) novel Chapter 206

"If a rabid dog bites you, are you going to bite it back?"

Luna was fuming. "So we're just going to stand here and watch them show off?"

Sienna's lips curved into a faint smile as she picked up her water glass and took a sip. "Let them show off. The more arrogant they act, the better."

Luna froze. "What do you mean?"

Sienna didn't explain. She just gave her a quiet, knowing smile.

It was a casual, breezy look, but the dark gleam in her eyes sent an inexplicable shiver down Luna's spine.

She knew Sienna too well.

This woman was never the type to swallow her pride and suffer in silence. The calmer she appeared, the harder someone was about to fall.

Catching on, Luna relaxed and sat back down.

She picked up her own glass, took a sip, and prepared to enjoy the incoming trainwreck.

Across the store, Helena had entered a state of borderline mania.

She ordered the associates to bring out every single high-priced item in the store.

The value of every piece had to dwarf the custom necklace Sienna had just requested to see.

Helena cast a critical eye over the velvet trays, pointing dismissively. "This one, and this one... I don't want those. Wrap up the rest."

The staff eagerly complied. Five or six associates swarmed around them, and even the store manager rushed over to personally attend to her.

But Helena still wasn't satisfied. "Why are you bringing out all these cheap trinkets? Don't you have anything better? Do you even know who I am? Go get the real pieces, right now!"

Who in the luxury scene didn't know the Sterlings?

Without missing a beat, the manager spun around, hurried into the vault, and brought out the store's absolute finest, unreleased treasures.

Luna almost laughed out loud. She quickly slapped a hand over her mouth, her shoulders shaking with silent laughter.

Helena had just about finished her spree. A mountain of velvet boxes sat on the counter in front of her as the associate furiously calculated the total on a tablet.

Glancing proudly at her haul, Helena reached into her designer bag and pulled out a Black Card.

She purposely raised her voice so everyone could hear. "Celeste, this is Jarred's card. He specifically gave it to me and told me to buy you whatever you want. Don't worry about the price tag."

As she spoke, she stared directly at Sienna, her eyes blazing with triumphant malice.

Luna was grinding her teeth, but when she glanced at Sienna, she was shocked to see her friend actually smiling.

Holding her glass, Sienna watched Helena and Celeste over the rim, completely unbothered, as if she were enjoying a rather entertaining stage play.

Pulling her phone out of her pocket, she rapidly typed a quick message, hit send, and then placed it face-down on the table.
