Why did he always have to twist everything into some petty jealousy over a man?
Willow and Tessa had a deep-seated, irreconcilable hatred for one another!
Facing the person who had caused her death in her past life, Willow's sheer disgust and animosity were completely justified. What did any of that have to do with Elias Landon?
Elias's face flushed bright red at the insult, his gaze hardening with hostility. "I've realized you truly lack any basic decency. No wonder the Shaw family loves Tessa and despises you!"
Vivienne, who had been thoroughly enjoying watching Willow tear into them, immediately slammed her hands on the table. "The Shaws don't love Willow because they're completely blind! And you like Tessa because you have a taste for garbage. Don't try gaslighting Willow!"
Willow laughed, looking as smug as a cat that got the cream. "Hear that? Your taste is horrendous. You actually prefer the filthy scraps of a pathetic plagiarist!"
Tessa looked like she was about to burst into tears from sheer rage. She yelled back, "I made a mistake in a moment of weakness! Are you going to hold that over my head forever?! Once Mr. Skye takes me on as his student, my composition skills will obviously improve! When that happens, we'll see who actually wins the championship!"
"Oh." Willow gave a half-hearted, dismissive smirk. "And then what? You'll still be a loser. Stop making excuses for yourself, Tessa. Trash is trash."
Tessa looked like she was going to pass out from a lack of oxygen.
She took a deep, shuddering breath, forcing herself to look completely devastated, and quickly squeezed out a few genuine tears.
Then, with a trembling voice, she whispered, "Willow... you know my mental health is in a really bad place right now. Half the time, I can't even articulate what I really want to say, which is why you keep misunderstanding me. Please... don't say such cruel things to push me over the edge, okay? I really can't handle it."
Willow just smiled. "You might be able to trick everyone else with this depression act, but do you seriously think you can fool me? Tessa, your so-called illness isn't a get-out-of-jail-free card. Even if you were actually sick, I still wouldn't hold back."
Knowing she couldn't win against Willow, Tessa immediately pivoted back to Caspian, playing the victim. "Mr. Skye, I think our conversation has to end here for today. Willow is acting incredibly immature, and I'm so sorry you had to witness this. I'll personally come to your residence tomorrow to apologize properly. I hope to hear your final answer then."
With that, she stood up, weeping softly, and gently tugged on Elias's sleeve. "Let's go, Elias. I really don't feel well."
