Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 129

Caspian was puzzled, clearly not grasping what Willow meant. He turned to glance at Vivienne, who gave him a subtle, reassuring nod.

Caspian and Vivienne had been friends for years. He trusted her character implicitly, so despite his complete confusion about the situation, he agreed.

Willow visibly brightened, but Caspian's expression grew even more somber.

What good would it do anyway? As long as that life-saving debt hung over his head, he would inevitably be manipulated by it. He would never truly be free to make his own choices.

The waiter cleared away the mess on the adjacent table, and the three of them finally sat down to enjoy their meal.

Willow sharply noticed that in just a few short days, Caspian's demeanor had shifted drastically. He was much quieter than the last time she saw him, frequently zoning out.

Watching him, Vivienne couldn't help but frown in frustration.

But she had already given him all the advice she could. At this point, there was nothing left to say. Caspian had to figure this out on his own.

Halfway through dinner, Caspian's phone suddenly rang. He glanced at the caller ID and completely froze.

Sensing something was wrong, Vivienne leaned over to check the screen. The name *Beatrice Landon* flashed glaringly back at her.

"They really are like parasites, draining you dry!" Vivienne scoffed, slamming her fork down onto the table. The fury in her eyes was unmistakable. "Put her on speaker. I want to hear exactly what kind of garbage she has to say!"

Caspian was always accommodating toward his closest friend. Hearing Vivienne's demand, he didn't hesitate and tapped the speaker button.

Beatrice's arrogant, demanding voice echoed through the phone: "Caspian, get ready. In three days, I'm hosting a press conference. You will use that opportunity to publicly announce that you're taking Tessa on as your student."

Willow rolled her eyes. This was truly a new low. So, the Landon family failed to get their way with the younger generation, and now they were sending the older generation to strong-arm him?
