Lucian's breath hitched for a split second. His lashes fluttered as he parted his lips, ready to confess everything.
Catching on to what he was about to do, York expertly cut him off. "Willow, about the track—I actually had a few ideas. Want to hear them?"
York knew all of Lucian's secrets. Even when he had stepped away to manage his own family business, he never stopped keeping tabs on both Lucian and Willow.
Naturally, he knew Lucian had made a secret trip back to the country, and that he had met with Willow under the guise of Lycian Global's representative.
He knew exactly how much support Lucian had been feeding her from the shadows.
Are you kidding?
If Willow found out about all that, York wouldn't stand a chance.
York understood that Willow was fiercely loyal to anyone who helped her. Everything Lucian had done would only skyrocket him in her eyes.
Wasn't the only reason she even looked at York differently because of how he had defended her?
As a cutthroat heir, York knew exactly how to eliminate risks before they surfaced, especially when it came to a threat like this.
Having grown up together, York knew Lucian had always been starved for affection. When it came to love, he was terribly insecure, constantly terrified of losing what little he had. That was why he wouldn't dare reveal the truth unprompted, terrified of pissing Willow off.
As long as Willow didn't ask directly, he would keep it buried.
It was Lucian's fatal flaw.
And it was York's only opening.
Willow gave York an odd look. Was the guy some kind of workaholic maniac?
He wasn't even willing to waste a cab ride without finding a way to wring some productivity out of her.
Not batting an eye, York forged ahead, denying her any time to analyze the situation. "The core premise of The New Production kicks off with the female lead attending her own funeral. Willow, I was wondering if we could weave some brass elements into the theme song? Wouldn't that deliver a more visceral punch?"
Just like that, Willow's train of thought was effectively derailed. She mulled it over for a second. "We could try it. Brass and piano don't naturally blend well, but we could probably find a sweet spot."
