Seeing Willow pull the necklace out, Tessa could no longer keep up her act. She shoved away the butler who had come to support her and lunged viciously to bite Willow's hand.
Willow hadn't expected her to act like a complete lunatic, but she refused to let go of this hard-won opportunity. Speeding up her movements, she yanked the necklace out with force.
With a sharp clatter, the necklace was brought into the light. It gleamed under the sun, its smooth edges slightly blinding.
Willow looked at it, her gaze instantly freezing.
It was indeed a silver keepsake locket.
But it wasn't valuable. It was just an ordinary silver chain, the edges even a bit worn. Although it looked very similar to her own silver keepsake locket, it was definitively not the same item.
This was entirely unlike something a mother of her standing would bestow; it looked more like a blessing an average family would give their child.
How could this be?
Willow's pupils constricted slightly. Staring at the locket, her mind went blank for a brief moment.
Could she have really been mistaken?
Did her parents' deaths truly have nothing to do with Tessa?
How was that possible? Every single clue pointed directly to her!
Willow's gaze sharpened. She wasn't someone easily fooled. Since she had made up her mind, she would get to the bottom of this, no matter the cost.
Her eyes locked back onto the handbag. Tessa's eyelid twitched violently as she let out a miserable shriek, "Willow! Are you ever going to stop?"
Silas quickly recovered from the sudden turn of events, his eyes filled with disgust as he looked at Willow. "You've already gotten the silver keepsake locket you wanted. Why are you still digging through Tessa's things?"
