Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 305

Tessa’s mind buzzed with static. Xavier’s face loomed before her, stripped of its usual indulgence, leaving only a cold, murderous intent.

Stung by his expression, she practically mumbled to herself, "Xavier, don't you care about me at all? I'm pregnant, and Willow beat me like this. Aren't you even going to ask if I'm okay?"

He heard her, but he didn't bother responding. He just gripped her stubbornly, his gaze like a wraith from hell. "Tessa, I'm going to ask you one last time. Where is my father?"

His grip was crushing. Tessa couldn't breathe, her body convulsing slightly from the pain as tears spilled from her eyes. "I... I don't know."

"You don't know?" Xavier repeated. A hoarse, dark chuckle ripped from his throat, his eyes flashing with a somber, predatory red. In that moment, Tessa genuinely believed he was going to kill her.

She didn't even care about the suffocating lack of oxygen as she stumbled over her words to defend herself. "Xavier, if I really knew, why wouldn't I tell you guys? Please, just let me go first. I really can't breathe..."

Julian, who had just hurried over, fell silent for two seconds before grabbing Xavier's arm. He urged softly, "Calm down. Don't actually strangle her to death, or we'll never find out anything."

Xavier took a deep breath and reluctantly let go.

Tessa instantly broke into a violent fit of coughing, traces of blood slipping past her lips.

Ever since she was taken in by the Shaw family, she had never been this pathetic.

She looked down at the blood sinking into the dirt, blooming into a grotesque, twisted pattern. Between the throbbing pain in her swollen cheeks and the ringing in her ears, she felt as if she had just died and come back to life.

Subconsciously, she looked over at Willow. The other woman's face was utterly calm. She looked completely pristine, not a single hair out of place, forming a stark contrast to Tessa's own wretched state.
