Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 327

Willow tilted her head, confused as to why Lucian was still rooted by the entrance, lost in thought.

She let out a helpless laugh. "Did York's little speech really bother you that much?"

Snapping back to reality, Lucian immediately leaned into the opening, adopting a look of profound grievance. "It hurt my feelings."

Seeing Lucian display such rare vulnerability felt entirely novel to Willow. Reaching out, she playfully ruffled his hair.

The light touch sent a thrill through him.

His Adam's apple bobbed slightly as he fixed his gaze on her face.

She was stunningly radiant, and this childish, spontaneous gesture only amplified her pure charm.

She was breathtaking—so beautiful that he physically couldn't look at anyone else.

"Willow," he called out, his tone suddenly solemn.

She looked at him quizzically. His voice was devastatingly gentle. "I'll handle Daphne. I will never let her hurt you."

Willow's eyes curved into a smile. "You'd better hurry, then. I'll be heading to The Sovereign Isles soon."

Lucian nodded. "I filed the flight plan for tomorrow. We leave tomorrow night."

Originally, he had intended to leave early the next morning to deal with the Daphne situation ahead of time so it wouldn't impact Willow.

But York's sudden appearance had triggered a massive wave of insecurity.

York wasn't like Elias. He was a complete blank slate—he hadn't even been in a relationship before. He was entirely pure, both emotionally and physically.

Beyond that, his family background easily rivaled the Jaggers.

He was a dangerously formidable rival.

Lucian simply couldn't ignore him.

Worse still... there was one detail that still ate at Lucian's sanity: Willow had once personally admitted that she liked York.
