Sensing something was amiss, Chamberlain Reed shot them an inquiring look. "Ms. Shaw? Is something wrong?"
Willow quickly regained her composure, speaking naturally. "It's nothing. I just realized I left my sheet music behind. You can head back first; after I grab my music, I need to pick up a few supplies."
She couldn't possibly discuss Lucian's situation with Sylvester in front of someone else. It was too risky.
If they were overheard, it would only invite unnecessary trouble.
Reed offered a polite smile. "Ms. Shaw, the palace has dedicated staff for purchasing. You don't need to do it yourself."
Willow frowned, looking visibly annoyed. "I insist on buying my personal items myself. It's a habit of mine."
Reed lowered his head and kept his mouth shut.
After all, musicians always had their eccentricities. There was no point in clashing with Willow over something so trivial.
Otherwise, it would be hard to smooth things over later.
Willow turned and walked away, with Sylvester following closely behind as they headed back to the private jet.
The moment the cabin door sealed shut, Willow turned to Sylvester. "What exactly is going on?!"
Lucian had just been on the phone with her last night; how could he suddenly vanish out of thin air?
Sylvester's tone was dead serious. "Mr. Jagger was originally here to discuss terminating the engagement with the King. His Majesty hosted a banquet, and just as it was wrapping up, Mr. Jagger went to the restroom and hasn't been reachable since. It's been three hours."
The update was brief, lacking much detail or sense of immediate peril.
But Willow couldn't help furrowing her brows. If it was just a simple banquet, how could someone disappear into thin air?
Worse yet, Sylvester had zero useful leads!
Willow took a deep breath, her mind racing.
Then she suddenly asked Sylvester, "So, did the King agree to break off the engagement?"
Sylvester paused for a second, pressing his earpiece and whispering softly. Two seconds later, he answered, "No. The matter hasn't been finalized yet."
Well, that made things crystal clear.
The Royal Family refused to cancel the engagement and likely used some underhanded tactic to force Lucian's compliance. Realizing the trap, he decided to pull a disappearing act.
