Tessa breathed a quiet sigh of relief, though a twisted, vicious glint flashed in her eyes. Sooner or later, she was going to strip Willow of everything she had!
So what if Willow was finally fighting back? The end result was always going to be the same!

When Willow woke up, Lucian was already gone. He had left a note on the nightstand: I'm going out to look for work. I'll be back early.
She frowned, a part of her wishing he had stayed inside. It wasn't that she wanted to control him, but she was terrified he might run into whoever had hurt him.
After a moment's hesitation, she pulled up his newly added profile and sent a message. Buy some dark colored contacts. Your eyes are way too recognizable. And wear a mask when you go out so you don't get harassed by strangers.
His reply came almost instantly. Is my girlfriend jealous?
Willow stared at the screen.
She couldn't exactly say she was worried about assassins, could she? That would mean admitting she knew his true identity.
Sighing, she took the easy way out. Yes.
On the other end of the line, Lucian stared at that single word, a heavy silence falling over him. Then, a low, rich chuckle rumbled in his chest. His thumb brushed over the glowing text as he murmured, "Little Deceiver."
He sent back a casual emoji, locked his phone, and returned his attention to the man sitting across from him. "So my father's illegitimate son has moved into the estate?"
York Lockwood nodded, leaning back in his chair. "He sure did. While you've been 'missing in action,' the bastard officially got his name added to the family trust. Lucian, my friend, your spot as the Jagger heir is looking pretty shaky right now. Care to double my bonus? If I ever strike it rich, maybe I'll hire you as my assistant."
