Julian was completely stunned into silence. Her words hit him like a physical blow as he instinctively looked back on the past. He realized with sickening clarity that she was right. Growing up, they had forced Willow to swallow her pride and apologize over and over again, never once considering how it destroyed her.

The blazing fury in his chest suddenly dissolved into cold ash. "Does it really have to be this ugly, Willow?" he asked quietly.

She smiled bitterly. "You made it ugly, Julian. Stop acting like you're all innocent."

She hung up without another word.

Thirty minutes later, Leo appeared at the gates of her apartment complex. His eyes were bloodshot, radiating a volatile mix of desperation and rage.

Unable to get past security, he had no choice but to call her.

Willow answered at her leisure, leaving him standing out in the cold for another ten minutes before finally throwing on a coat and walking out.

The moment Leo saw her, his jaw locked so tightly the muscles jumped. Staring at her, he swallowed every ounce of his towering pride, bowing his head in sheer humiliation as he choked out the words. "Willow. I'm begging you. Okay?"

"Your attitude is lacking," she replied coldly.

Leo took a ragged breath, his knuckles cracking as he clenched his fists, forcing his voice to soften. "Willow... I apologize for what I did. Please. Come to the hospital with me."

Only then did Willow give a reluctant nod. Leo stood up straight, the cold resentment in his eyes burning brighter than ever.

She knew he hated her for this. But didn't she have every right to hate them, too?

Tilting her head, she studied him with eerie calm. "Do you feel wronged? Leo, think about the years of humiliation I endured."

The short, quiet sentence hit him like a deafening explosion.
