A wave of sheer panic suddenly gripped Elias.

He quickly forced the feeling down and rushed out to find Tessa.

Once those two eyesores were finally out of sight, Willow felt her mood improve significantly.

Vivienne finally managed to stop laughing and clicked her tongue. "Willow, I always knew those people from your family were absolute psychos, but I never realized Tessa was the most delusional of the bunch! She actually had the nerve to think she could win? You could beat her with one hand tied behind your back."

Willow smiled faintly, her eyes curving in amusement. It was true. Tessa was inherently ordinary. The only reason she seemed exceptional in their past life was because the Shaw family had leached off Willow, using all of her hard work and talent to prop up an empty, talentless shell.

That wasn't going to happen in this life.

Vivienne then turned to Caspian. "You aren't seriously considering taking Tessa as your apprentice, are you?"

Caspian remained silent for a second before saying in a hoarse voice, "The Landon family did me a massive favor. As long as it doesn't cross any legal lines, I will likely fulfill their request."

Vivienne's face grew colder by the second. She stated sharply, "Caspian, you're a good man, but you are far too stubborn. I understand you want to repay your debt, but this isn't the way to do it. Caspian, I won't argue with you, but before you make her your apprentice, go online and search up what Tessa and Elias have been up to these past few days. Make your decision after you read all about it."

Caspian's eyelashes fluttered as if he wanted to argue, but Vivienne didn't give him the chance. She simply stood up. "Come find me when you've thought things through. Willow will absolutely not be sharing a master with Tessa. Just pretend you never heard that piano piece today."
