Biker's Claim The Broken Angel is Mine (Cora and Jake) novel Chapter 183

Chapter 123

Chapter 183

Demetri (Coins) POV

Ruby was all over me like a rash, kissing my body, placing little love bites everywhere. I let her have

her way and enjoyed it all while she burned out the last of her energy before falling asleep in my

arms.

Theld her close to me, while my mind went back to Hacker and Scrubs. They were both saddened

by the direction their club had taken. Something changed after we left, and I have no clue what. My men were watching from a distance, giving Oddball a chance to get over the shock of Bluey’s

betrayal and the loss of Xavier.

It took a while for my brain to shut off. No matter how much I thought about it, I couldn’t come up

with what Hacker wanted to show me, or what had gone so terribly wrong.

Ruby moved, and I opened my eyes. I must have dozed off at some point during the night, but it

didn’t feel like it.

“Morning,” Ruby yawned and gave me a quick kiss before we dressed and headed down for breakfast. It wasn’t long before the others arrived; Cora appeared in a good mood, like Ruby; she had this glow about her. Ruby had said it was pregnancy glow, and who am I to argue? It might be just that. I have so much to learn. I have already told myself to go online and investigate. What a woman will go through. I don’t want to miss any of it; now I have been blessed with a second

chance,

Now we were in Cora’s office, and the overhead screen lowered before flickering to life, showing the information Hacker wanted to show us and had refused to give us a clue.

I heard Cora and Xavier suck in a breath; Ruby would have no clue what she was seeing.

There on the large screen was Oddball’s name, and in the known acquaintances was my father’s

name.

How the hell would Oddball know my father, and what has he got to do with all of this?

Gunner was hurt before Cora arrived in town, but he might have had spies watching her all these

years, and knew her destination, but not Gunner.

Was she the real target of that particular shooter?

All the rest has been something completely different?

Like the suggestions had said, some competition that my father got involved in to get rid of my

daughter?

< Chapter 183

Was his hatred of Dianne and her offspring still driving his hate?

Was he watching her and Dianne?

What about Dianne’s death?

Was he involved in that?

Have I been looking at this the wrong way?

Is he still trying to hurt me for turning my back on the family, his only heir?.

I don’t care about him and his money. I made my own, and it wasn’t handed to me, like his was

handed to him.

“Peter, how did you find this?” I looked at him and wondered what else was on that thumb drive.

“Oddball didn’t question the new men in the cells the same way as the first few. Plus, a few things

didn’t add up. Jame and I talked about it. The way Oddball defended Bluey and believed her over

you, his long-time friend, felt wrong, so we decided to look into Oddball, who hadn’t been included

in our initial search before, because he was part of the group that decided to initiate the review of

all members.” Peter started to explain how one trail led to another and how he ended up with that

information.

“If you look, Oddball and your father go back to the time just before Bluey joined us. We feel your

father planted her, but we didn’t know why, and still don’t. He couldn’t have known that Cora would

end up in that hospital; our assumptions, although not proven yet, are that he was part of the black

market, and all these shooters had opened up a can of worms, making people dig deeper than we

have been, and find the black market. These, to us, are two separate investigations. The shooters

and the black market,” James added with enthusiasm.

“I agree that this does appear to be two separate investigations, and until proven otherwise, will

have to continue like that. Does Oddball know you investigated him?’ Cora asked, adding her thoughts to this discussion.

“No, to be honest, I no longer trust him. It wouldn’t surprise me if he would happily put both of us in

the cells and let us rot, come up with some concocted reason to have us in there in the first place.”

Peter shivered as if the thought had made him cold.

“What did he think you were coming to my wedding?” Xavier asked softly.

“We didn’t tell him about your wedding, just that we were coming to Demetri’s wedding.

representing the club. He couldn’t argue with that, and couldn’t come with us, as he had those guys

in the cells he was going to question. It wouldn’t surprise me if he let them go while we were not around to see them, possibly saying they had escaped and someone on the inside must have

helped them.” James looked lost, with a hint of fear in his eyes.

Clar

“Are you safe going back?” Cora looked between the two men, as if gauging their answer for truth.

“No idea, most likely not,” Peter answered with sadness.

“Then don’t return.” Ruby jumped in.

“Got to go back; we have to look like we are still investigating the shooting, and secretly talk to the men that want to leave. None are safe, I guess. Who knows what Oddball will do next/or if your father has him by the short and curly, and he’s stuck like Dormouse was, with a baby on the way he will be even more protective, and caught up in your father’s web, if we can’t find why he started to

work with him, and prove its blackmail, or something like that. I fear for Strike and anyone who

gets in his way. As he gets deeper into the hole, Peter, such a kind soul, is like Çora in a way; he

wants to see the good side rather than the bad. I don’t blame him; it would be kinder to think

Oddball was blackmailed than to think he went corrupt.

“I will forward this to my man and see what he can dig up; he knows my father better than most.

He might not have put Oddball’s birth name on Oddball, but will now. Thank you,” I said, and I meant it. Although this was upsetting to see, it had to be seen eventually.

“If you don’t mind an extra lodger, I would like to stay a little longer. I can say I am checking out the hospitals up here; he knows we were looking for more staff. It would be a good cover for me to stay another week or so,” James asked. I could see the two were doing that eye communication

again.

“You are welcome to stay a little longer.”

“Dad, why didn’t your men know about

yourd

I thought you had a team watching him?” Coral asked, looking at the screen again and moving to the computer. Peter moved aside so she could

take over.
