Chapter 184

Cora (Dollar) POV

Geovanni Ferrari.

That name I never thought I would see on a report alongside Oddball’s, whose birth name was

Jack Sanderson.

Clans

Dad must be shocked, even devastated; seeing the two on the same list makes me wonder what

else that man has got us into. I have nothing but bad things about him, and how he acted when Dad didn’t want anything to do with the arranged marriage, and how his Dad and the family reacted when Dad divorced her and caused family shame in public, was ugly.

Xavier!

Oh No!

I turned to look at him; his face was glued to the screen.

Confusion and sadness covered his face as he searched the screen for understanding.

This had to hurt deeply.

His childhood friend, whom he lost respect for, over the Bluey situation.

But he still held out hope that his friend was innocent and had bad judgment, that his trust in Bluey was just a misunderstanding; there’s no hiding it now, and Xavier wouldn’t understand how Oddball would have a hand in all these accidents, shootings, murders, and theft. Even with Dormouse’s

confession, he still had unfounded hope that his old friend was still there somewhere, but this?

This would squash any of that hope he held.

He had to have been in this mess for years, getting bolder and bolder each year; the longer he went without being found out, the more cocky and dangerous he had to become, but what about

the club and his friends?

Did Oddball no longer care about them? Only how could he use them, like rounding up the

shooters, to hide his real crimes?

It made me sick to think how much he used and hurt his own club for his personal gain; that’s not

what a club president should be like.

I moved to touch Xavier’s hand; he turned to look at me, tears threatening to fall into his eyes, before he straightened, nodded, and I nodded back. Then I moved to my computer and pushed

Hacker aside.

I needed more than what I was seeing, so I put all that Hacker had on the overhead screen for a to

see.

I found the bug and isolated it. Before it could do anything, my firewall protection was doing its

job; it didn’t have GPS or any ability to take over my computer, send what it found back to the

contact. What they will get would be encrypted bugs sent by my machine, and if they try to

decipher the code, the computer they are using will fry-neat little bug, built into my security system. I can track the IP address and dig deeper, but not on this computer; I will do it on my laptop. I have a few more apps I have created on that one that I try to keep separate from this

computer. Back in my nursing training school days, when I had to do some nonmedical work in our

training, the teacher said it helps me look outside the box, and as I had already done a lot of coding

at school, it was just expanding on my knowledge, and I found I loved doing it. I was good with numbers and could follow coding easily.

“Dad, earlier you asked if we thought you had a spy in your camp, but your father could have broken

into your security cameras and has been monitoring all the goings-on. May I check the cameras for

outside interference and put better protection on them? All the receiver would get is static and garbled sounds that even the best wouldn’t be able to filter.” I asked as I fiddled with some settings. on my computer, getting ready to interact with his system.

“Thank you; I didn’t think any of my people would be spies, but confirmation gives me peace of mind. Do it; get rid of those unwanted eyes, let me give you the password.” Dad moved to be

beside me and typed in the password when I was ready.

I removed the thumb drive and handed it to Hacker.

“Use my laptop; I need this computer. It’

s a tricky job.” I looked at the system and found the trace

of someone recording the president’s office. I trailed it back to an IP address and saved the

address before scrambling the security on the cameras so they only go to garbage.

“Hacker sent you the IP address; can you check it out, please?” I continued to check the rest of the system before being satisfied that all was as safe as I could make it remotely.

We worked as a team, while Xavier and Dad checked the screen, as Hacker updated the new

information,

Ruby stayed nearby, having collected the paperwork we had been working on before, and looking

at the new information, trying her best to put something together that would match what we were

seeing.

“These are definitely two separate incidents. Looks like someone was doing a copycat on both Xavier and Dormouse; the MO was different. For instance, Dormouse’s accident was the only one that was inside a town or city, and Xavier’s shooting was the only mention of the sniper aiming at a

person; all others had been on the tyres only,” Dad announced after over two hours of working on

this.

“Let’s separate the two. Cora, did you check both clubs’ security cameras for bugs?”

“Yes, Dad, I thought I said that?” We had been so busy, I might have thought about it and not said it

out loud.

“Hacker, you stick to investigating the shootings, and leave my father to me, Cora, and/my team
