Chapter 166
Tessa did not notice the noise at the door.
All her attention was fixed on Xylia’s face, and she was thoroughly mad.
Observing the casts on Xylia’s limbs, she let out a cold laugh, drew a knife from her pocket, and was about to stab Xylia’s other healthy ankle.
She wanted to make Xylia a complete cripple.
But just as she raised the knife, before it could land, her wrist was gripped tightly by someone.
The force was so great that it nearly broke her wrist by twisting.
Screaming. Tessa’s complexion turned pale instantly.
Her grip slackened, and the knife fell to the floor.
Joshua casually tossed her, then forcefully threw her to the floor.
Then, he walked over to Xylia, lowered his head, and observed her with concern. “Are you alright?”
Xylia nodded. “You arrived just in time. She was about to attack me.”
She pointed at Tessa lying on the floor.
Joshua seemed to let out a long sigh of relief before turning to look at Tessa.
“Did you think about the consequences before coming to the hospital to hurt her?” Joshua’s voice was cold.
He stood with his back to Xylia. As Tessa looked up, she saw the cold, hard expression on Joshua’s face and the murderous intent in his eyes.
A chill surged up her back, and almost instantly, cold sweat broke out on her forehead.
She wondered, “When did that mere chauffeur ever have such an air of authority?”
Given the circumstances, Tessa did not give up or act recklessly.
She awkwardly scrambled to her feet, avoided Joshua’s gaze, and pointed at Xylia’s legs as she said, “When did I ever hurt her? Is there any wound on her?”
The knife on the floor glinted with a cold light. Before Joshua could speak, she said shamelessly. I took the knife solely to peel an apple for my sister. Is it wrong for me to be concerned about her illness?”
I took the knife solely to peel an apple for my older sister. As her younger sibling, is it wrong for me to be concerned about her illness?
She was assertive and confident.

Joshua’s expression grew increasingly somber,
Xylia suddenly pointed at her phone. I have just turned on the camera, and the video of you attempting to attack me with the knife has already been recorded. Would you like to watch it?”
Tessa’s face turned pale in an instant.
She had not anticipated that Xylia actually recorded it.
Nylia made a gesture as if to unlock her phone, preparing to call the police. “If you refuse to watch it, I will have no choice but to ask the police to come and see whether you had any intention to harm me just now.”
Upon seeing Xylia making a phone call, Tessa immediately turned around in panic and ran out of the hospital
room.
She nearly rushed out the door and almost collided with Hudson, who was just entering.
Hudson was slow to react for a second. After recalling that the woman who had dashed out was Tessa, who had always bullied Xylia, he rushed into the hospital room.
“Are you alright?” Before he could finish his sentence, he saw Joshua standing by the hospital bed, one hand still holding Xylia’s hand.
Hudson raged immediately.
He pointed at Joshua and said harshly, “When did you get here? Let go of her!”
He rushed over to separate Joshua and Xylia.
Xylia was somewhat embarrassed.
However, before Hudson could rush over, Joshua used his foot to drag a nearby stool and positioned it as a barrier between them.
Hudson stopped in front of the stool, but he was already glaring fiercely at Joshua.
“Bro, I am not a lecher. Why are you so guarded against me?” Joshua’s hand remained tightly clasped around Xylia’s palm, yet his words continued to sound flippant.
Xylia raised her hand to her forehead in resignation.
As expected, Hudson erupted in the next moment. “Don’t bro me! We’re not family!”
Joshua merely said, “We will be soon.”
Hudson was furious.
“That’s enough. Stop teasing Hudson.” Xylia withdrew her hand from Joshua’s grasp, gave him a slight glare, and then turned to look at Hudson.
She said innocently, “Hudson, just now, Tessa tried to attack me with a knife. Joshua happened to come to sec

me and drove her away. He was checking to see if I was
injured.”
Is 55 vouchers:
Joshua plaintively lowered his gaze to look at Xylia, wondering. ‘Is it necessary to explain so much?”
Xylia pretended not to notice Joshua’s gaze.
Hudson felt a sense of relief only after hearing Xylia’s words.
Recalling how Tessa had just come in and tried to hurt Xylia, Hudson felt the breath he had just let out catch in his chest once again.
“Tessa Schultz dared to sneak into the hospital rooms and commit an assault? She must pay the price!” As he spoke. Hudson was about to call the police.
Xylia stopped him. “Forget it. Without evidence, the police would just ask a couple of questions–there’s no need to waste energy.
Joshua looked at Xylia and asked, “Didn’t you record a video?”
Xylia shook her head and said, “I lied. If I had not said that, she would have continued arguing here for quite some time. I truly do not wish to see her any longer.”
Joshua did not agree with Xylia’s approach. “However, by acting in this manner, you are abetting wrongdoing.”
Hudson could not stand Joshua speaking to Xylia like that. “What is wrong with my sister being kind and forgiving?”
As he spoke, he stepped around the stool, walked to the edge of the bed, and forcefully pulled Joshua away. “That’s enough. Just talk–don’t stand so close.”
Joshua was pushed away, his expression grim.
However, since Hudson was Xylia’s brother, no matter how bad his temper was, Joshua must restrain himself.
Xylia found it amusing
She looked at Hudson and said, “Hudson, I’m a bit hungry. Could you get me something to eat?”
Hudson realized that Xylia was deliberately sending him away.
He said, “Let me order food delivery for you.”
Xylia remained silent, simply gazing at him with a pair of bright, sparkling eyes.
In the end, Hudson backed down after all. “Fine. What would you like to eat? I’ll go buy it for you.”
Xylia said, “I’d like to have some burritos.”
Of course, Hudson would get her whatever she wanted.
Before leaving, he cast a warning glance at Joshua. “Keep your distance from my sister.”

It was only after Hudson left that Xylia looked at Joshua. “Is there something you want to say to me?”
Joshua paused. “Can’t I simply come to see you?”
Xylia pointed at the clothes he was wearing.
Dressed in a bespoke suit, with meticulously styled silver hair set with hairspray, his formal appearance made it clear that he was definitely not there just to visit her.
“Are you going somewhere?” Since Xylia had already asked so directly, Joshua decided not to be evasive any longer.
He walked to the edge of the bed and sat down, his dark eyes locking onto hers, piercing into her gaze. “I have some matters to attend to and will need to be away. I expect to return in approximately one to two months.”
Upon hearing one or two months, Xylia felt a sudden pang of anxiety in her heart. “Has something serious happened?”
Joshua shook his head. “It is merely a routine business trip. Before I leave, I would like to ask you a question.”
Xylia looked at him, puzzled.
Joshua asked, “You told me to think it over that day. I had already thought it through long before. My feelings for you are neither a passing impulse nor an act of gratitude. If I had not known that you were married to Connor Ford, I would have come to you long ago.”
Xylia stood frozen in place.
Joshua held Xylia’s hand and continued, “I will return to Norhill in two months. Will you give me your answer
then?”
