For as long as the crisis at Ford Group remained unresolved, Connor couldn’t relax.
Because of Xylia, not only was the collaboration with the Sadler Group off the table, but even the possibility of working with the Garcia family was no longer viable.
Two days ago, Connor tried calling Yana, only to find out she had already left Jupiton. Thinking about this made Connor even more dissatisfied with Xylia. If it weren’t for her, he would have secured the deal with Sadler Group.
Just then, his assistant knocked and entered, his face lit up with excitement. “Mr. Ford, I have good news. Mr. Sadler from Sadler Group will arrive in Jupiton in three days.”
Connor’s eyes snapped to the assistant. “What?”
“This is Mr. Sadler’s personal itinerary, and we’ve worked hard to get this information,” the assistant said, his excitement palpable.
“The person you met at the banquet last time was just his assistant, but this time Mr. Sadler himself is coming to Jupiton. You may have a chance to speak with him directly,” his assistant added.
This was indeed an opportunity. As long as they could meet, there was a chance to turn things around.
He looked at his assistant, “Find out where Mr. Sadler will be staying in Jupiton.”
“No need to look any further.” Tessa walked in with a smile in her eyes. “I attended an event hosted by the Sadler family earlier this year. I made some inquiries and found out that Mr. Sadler will be dining at a private
restaurant.”
Connor asked, “Which restaurant?”
“Caperson Bistro,” Tessa replied.
Connor turned to his assistant. “Make a reservation for us at Caperson Bistro for three days from now.”
The assistant nodded and left, while Tessa moved to Connor’s side, looking up at him. “Connor, take me with you in three days. I have connections with Sadler Group, and I might be able to help.”
Connor looked at Tessa, feeling warmth in his chest. Compared to Xylia, Tessa was clearly the better choice. Tessa had made accomplishments in her career and had a generous personality, which made it hard not to like her.
Seeing Tessa, Connor’s mood, which had been dark all morning, improved significantly. He smiled at her. “Thank you, Tessa.”
“No need to thank me, we’re good friends.” Tessa smiled, slapping him on the shoulder. She then took his hand and pulled him along. “It’s almost noon, let’s grab lunch together.”
Connor, pulled along by Tessa, felt the warmth of her soft hand in his. His heart melted. His fingers twitched as he allowed her to lead him out of the office.

Laurel’s death anniversary was in half a month. Xylia went ahead and ordered flowers and other items, and Joshua accompanied her.
After she had ordered everything she needed, Xylia received a call from her private detective Maverick.
“Ms. Schultz, I’m in Jupiton now, and I can go speak with the eyewitnesses from the scene of the hit–and–run. Are you free to meet now?” Maverick said.
Excited, Xylia quickly replied, “I’m free now. Where should we meet?” After confirming the details, she ended the call.
Joshua asked, “What has happened?”
“I have found the third eyewitness of the hit–and–run accident,” Xylia said.
“I’ll go with you,” Joshua replied.
Xylia hesitated, but Joshua immediately pulled her into the car.
Twenty minutes later, they arrived at an old residential complex. Maverick was waiting outside.
When Maverick saw Joshua with Xylia, his pupils briefly contracted. Joshua shot him a look, and Maverick quickly looked away and resumed a normal expression.
Xylia first introduced Joshua to Maverick, saying, “This is my friend.”
Maverick gave Joshua a polite nod, then began to discuss the main business. “The person we’re looking for is named Lyle Moore.”
Xylia frowned slightly. “Are you sure it’s Lyle Moore?”
“Confirmed. I reviewed the surveillance footage from the roads near the accident site, and I saw him there. After further investigation, I’m certain it was him,” Maverick said.
Looking at Xylia’s troubled expression, Joshua asked, “Do you know him?”
“Yes, he’s Nova’s brother. He was the one who caused the trouble at the school anniversary,” Xylia replied.
Joshua nodded, understanding. He patted Xylia on the shoulder. “It’s okay. Let’s go.”
His calm and steady voice reassured Xylia.
Maverick led them to a building in the farthest corner of the residential complex, and they walked up to the
seventh floor.
It had been a while since Xylia had climbed such a long staircase, and she was out of breath, her face flushed and a thin layer of sweat on her forehead.

Joshua raised an eyebrow, noticing her struggle. “Well, you really should exercise more.”
She raised her eyes and glanced at Joshua, noticing that he had climbed seven floors in one go, his face unflushed and his heart not racing, as if it had cost him no effort at all.
She considered the disparity in their physical strength to be alarmingly great.
