It had been like this for days now. Every time he stepped outside, he felt like someone was following him.
Just then, his phone buzzed. He glanced at the caller ID, hung up without answering, and kept ambling toward the end of the street.
Before long, a black chauffeured car pulled up in front of him.
"Michael, please get in. I work for Mr. Lemont. You've met me before."
The driver rolled down the window and spoke to Michael.
The driver was the Lemont family's butler. The moment Michael had arrived in Jayelle City, Barney had sent him over to look after Michael's daily needs.
Michael, however, hadn't appreciated the gesture. He'd shut the man out along with Barney before long, and had switched residences more than once just to avoid them.
Barney had no choice but to have the man keep an eye on Michael from a distance and report back on anything worth knowing.
Fortunately, some time had passed since then, and Michael's condition had improved considerably.
Michael seemed not to have heard him at all and kept walking.
The driver eased the car along beside him. "Sir, Jayelle City hasn't been safe lately. You've probably seen the news, a criminal's on the run. Ms. Roswell is worried sick about you. If you'd rather be alone, you could always go back to Goldmont City..."
Michael's steps faltered slightly, but he didn't stop.
The fugitive had to be Trey Fox.
Michael had seen the news these past few days. Trey had been targeting Khloe all along, and he had ties to Lacuna besides. Now that he was on the run, of course Khloe would be uneasy.
Michael thought it over, then turned around at the red light.
"Pass a message to Khloe for me. Tell her I'm perfectly safe here, no need to worry, and that I'm not the least bit afraid of those people."
With that, he strode off.
The driver tried to say something else, but Michael waved him off. "Don't follow me anymore."
The crowd at the intersection swallowed him up as Michael slipped in among them.
The sky had gone a heavy gray, the clouds hanging so low they seemed ready to fall at any moment.
Pedestrians hurried past, but Michael sat down on a bench at the roadside without any urgency, rummaged through his shopping bag, and pulled out a bottle of beer.
Before the buzz of alcohol could hit him, the rain beat him to it.
Michael hadn't brought an umbrella and made no move to shield himself. He let the rain fall harder and harder, soaking him through, before he finally rose and kept walking.
But when he stood, he noticed an umbrella left behind the bench.
It was brand new, and not a cheap one either, a high-end brand.
Michael glanced around. There wasn't a single pedestrian left nearby; there was no way anyone could have simply forgotten it there.

The readers' comments on the novel: Billionaire's Match (by Tangy Candy)
Will more chapters be downloaded? It’s been awhile and I’m still seeing chapter 1175....
When will chapter 1044 and more bd downloaded?...
This is the story that I like reading. The heroine got the hold of the situation right away. No humiliation, no injustice, which keep the readers feeling bad all the way while waiting for the right thing to settle in favor of the heroine. Good storyline, congrats writer!...
