The spring breeze rolled like a sea, wave after wave.
Deep in the night, the curtains stirred outside the window, and a thin sliver of moonlight crept onto the bed, breaking into fragments across the shifting shapes above it.
…
When Michael opened his eyes again, dawn had just begun to break.
He reached beside him and found only the soft edge of the blanket.
He sat up, dazed. The room held no one but him. The touches from the night before, the figure that had moved beside him again and again, felt like nothing more than a dream.
Had it been a dream?
Michael touched his own lips. His fever had broken completely, but other than that, nothing in the apartment had changed. There wasn't a single trace, inside or out, that anyone had been there at all.
If it really had been her, would she have left without a word, given who she was?
Michael's thoughts scattered.
He found his phone still on the floor, dead.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
His heart jumped. He threw the door open. "Why did you…"
His voice caught. The person standing there wasn't Winnie.
"Hello, is this Mr. Morrison? Delivery for you."
Maybe Michael's stare had unnerved him, because the delivery boy held the bag out to him with visible timidity.
Michael took it and glanced inside: medicine, supplements, some food and drinks, fruit.
"Who sent this?"
"Sir, it was ordered through the app. How would I know?"
The boy hurried off after that, as if afraid Michael might give him trouble.
Michael dug through the bag and found no note of any kind.
He checked his phone. There were, in fact, a few missed calls and messages, but none of them from Winnie. They were all from Barney's people.
It had rained the day before, and Barney's staff, noticing how lightly Michael had been dressed, had sent over cold medicine and daily supplies to make sure he took care of himself.
Michael read through the messages, then glanced back at the shopping bag.
Had his fever last night blurred dream and reality together?
Had she really... never come at all?
The more Michael thought about it, the more restless he grew. Part of him knew it was better if she hadn't come, better if they never saw each other again, and yet the letdown of it cut straight through him to the bone and gave him no peace.
Night fell again.

The readers' comments on the novel: Billionaire's Match (by Tangy Candy)
Will more chapters be downloaded? It’s been awhile and I’m still seeing chapter 1175....
When will chapter 1044 and more bd downloaded?...
This is the story that I like reading. The heroine got the hold of the situation right away. No humiliation, no injustice, which keep the readers feeling bad all the way while waiting for the right thing to settle in favor of the heroine. Good storyline, congrats writer!...
