Gareth nodded. “Then please, go ahead in.”
“Alright.”
Aurelia entered the building, staying for almost half an hour before emerging.
When she stepped out, her face was radiant, full of smiles.
It was clear that the research she’d been working on had finally
succeeded.
She peeled off her sterile suit and pulled the mask off her face.
Gareth stepped forward, his voice respectful. “Ms. Smith, was it successful?”
Aurelia grinned. “The new formulation specialist–he’s really something.”
It looked like she’d be here every day for a while.
When she mentioned the specialist from three months ago, Gareth’s eyes brightened.
The two of them walked out of the tech park together, only to spot Dominic leaning against a car in the distance, hi arm$9:55

Even from that far away, the cold fury in his eyes was unmistakable.
Aurelia shot a glance at Gareth. “Go get the car.”
“Got it,” Gareth replied with a nod.
As soon as he left, Dominic strode toward Aurelia, his long legs eating up the distance.
Aurelia didn’t move, staying where she was.
Dominic’s gaze had lost all its previous warmth and patience. His voice was cold. “Where’s Grant?”
Sure enough, suspicion had made him snap.
Aurelia didn’t want to deal with him.
Just then, Gareth’s car pulled up, and Aurelia started to get in.
But Dominic grabbed her wrist, his grip firm. “Aurelia, don’t you owe me a reasonable explanation?”
Aurelia turned to face him, her eyes cold and challenging. “And what about you?”
Dominic frowned, momentarily confused. “What?”

She raised an eyebrow, a mocking glint in her eyes. “What’s your explanation?”
Dominic fell silent, caught off guard.
What explanation? About Lauren?
“She’s Adrian’s wife. My sister–in–law. What do you want me to explain?”
Aurelia’s voice turned colder. “You still remember she’s your sister–in–law? Then why are you with her day and night? How do you explain that?”
Dominic was speechless.
The words “day and night” cut through him like a knife, exposing the ugly truth about his relationship with Lauren.
The tension around Dominic grew thicker.
His grip on Aurelia’s wrist tightened. “You know exactly what the relationship between Grant and me is.”
“Does it have anything to do with me?”
Dominic froze.
Aurelia continued, her voice cold and sharp, “He’s single. Once 3/8

him and me after that, it won’t be wrong.”
She paused, her gaze hardening. “But you? You’ve made this mess, and you still want to be with Lauren after the divorce? You won’t have any moral high ground left.”
Before, when her marriage to Dominic wasn’t public knowledge, people had assumed that, since Adrian was dead, it would have made sense for Lauren to marry Dominic.
But now? Things were different.
Everyone knew Dominic had been involved with Lauren while he was still married.
If they were to get together now, they’d be tied to that shame forever.
Aurelia looked at him coldly. “Am I wrong?”
The air fell silent.
Dominic’s gaze grew colder as he stared at her.
“When did it start?” His voice was strained when he spoke again. “Do you like him?”
He was talking about Grant.

talking about my life after the divorce.”
Grant was a man of few words.
What stood out most to Aurelia was the dangerous coldness
that seemed to surround him.
Especially his eyes. The moment they locked with yours, it felt like you were being pulled into them, like you’d never escape.
He was definitely not someone you wanted to cross.
Aurelia had no interest in doing so.
“Well, let me tell you this,” Dominic said through gritted teeth, “We’re not getting divorced. Come home with me.”
He grabbed Aurelia’s arm, starting to drag her toward his car.
But after just two steps, a large, powerful hand gripped his
wrist.
It was Gareth.
The tension in the air was thick, and the scene was about to explode.
Dominic glared at Gareth. Despite Gareth’s towering height, it only seemed to fuel Dominic’s intimidating presence,

Gareth’s eyes were full of danger, his voice a low, commanding force. “Let go of her.”
Dominic shot a glance at Gareth, then at Aurelia.
Their eyes locked.
Aurelia’s voice was steady, though the underlying tension was clear.
“Home? The house is in Lydia’s name. The cards you gave me are either canceled or frozen.”
She stared at him, unwavering. “And you still talk about ‘home‘?”
The word felt absurd between them now.

After speaking, Aurelia turned and walked away.
Dominic stood there for a long time, the cold wind biting at him, seeping into his bones.
Jason stepped forward, his voice low. “Sir.”
Dominic closed his eyes, his voice strained. “Have I been that
bad to her all these years?”

Jason didn’t respond right away.
Bad? Materially, no.
Dominic always remembered to bring Aurelia gifts when he came back from his business trips.
But now? With everything that had happened…
Jason chose his words carefully. “Maybe… it’s more about Mrs. Lauren Hawthorne. Mrs. Hawthorne simply can’t get past it.”
“She can’t get past it,” Dominic repeated, his voice cold.
But hasn’t she been making a fuss about it for the last six months? Isn’t that enough?
Dominic opened his eyes again, his gaze cold. “Did you have someone following her?”
“Already arranged,” Jason replied, nodding.
The moment Aurelia left, he’d sent someone after her.
Dominic clenched his fists, his jaw tight. “I want to see where she thinks she can hide.”
The image of that guy from earlier flashed in his mind–he looked like someone who’d been around Grant before.

Must be one of Grant’s men.
Grant’s really sending people to protect her?
What, does he think the Hawthorne family would tear her apart?
The thought of Grant and Aurelia’s relationship made Dominic’s chest tighten with fury.
