She stood by the bed, staring at the man barely clinging to life. She had never seen him look so fragile. He lay there quietly, his devastatingly handsome face devoid of all color, his life sustained entirely by the medical equipment around him.
In the silent room, the rhythmic beeping of the machines was deafening.
It was a constant reminder of how incredibly frail his life was, threatening to slip away at any moment.
His faint breaths could stop in an instant.
Raelynn sat quietly beside his bed.
She didn't touch him.
She just sat there, talking softly to him. "You always make up your own mind. You analyze every angle on your own and never breathe a word of it to anyone."
"Honestly."
"I hate that you make all these decisions in silence. Even if it's for my own good, it just pisses me off."
Raelynn looked at his face. "You meticulously calculated everything for me, giving me what you thought was the best, most secure life."
"Sebastian, you're so incredibly unreasonable sometimes."
But...
Raelynn watched his thin eyelids. They were tinged with a faint redness, his eyelashes seeming to flutter, though it might have been her imagination.
"I know you've done everything in your power."
He had grown up devoid of love. His family was full of vipers masquerading as saints. He had witnessed every ugly truth: his father's cruelty, his mother's death, and even his grandparents' endless scheming. No one had ever protected him.
The only way he survived was by calculating every move since he was a child.
And he had applied that same logic to her.
His way of loving her, the only method he knew, was to scrape together everything he could from his fractured soul and force it all into her hands.
If the trust hadn't contacted her early, he probably would have died without her ever knowing. She would just receive the money every year, an illusion that he was still looking out for her.
Raelynn fell silent.
She sat there for a long time.
"Sebastian, if you want to apologize, you have to wake up and tell me to my face."
-
Julian and the others caught wind of the trust fund situation.
Since it was handled locally in Switzerland and Raelynn was right there, the lawyers had come by in person. It was impossible for them not to notice.
"...So you're telling me he knew he was dying years ago and planned all this out back then?" Julian frowned, his emotions a tangled mess.
"Like I said, why would he ever look at me? His heart was already overflowing. He never had a sliver of space to give anyone else a chance."
Watching all of this unfold, Zella suddenly felt at peace.
It wasn't that she wasn't good enough.
It was that Sebastian had wrung out every drop of love he possessed and given it entirely to Raelynn. He had never left a way out for himself.
"So when is Seb actually going to wake up?"
Leo had guessed most of this a long time ago. After seeing everything else, he wasn't too shocked by the current situation.
He only cared about when his friend would be out of the woods.
Julian looked toward Raelynn.

The readers' comments on the novel: Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding
I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
Literally on edge!...
