Raelynn looked at Lily's puffed-out cheeks and decided not to intervene. Sometimes, children understood the weight of pain far better than adults did. Their world was small, which meant every hurt they witnessed left a permanent scar on their hearts.
Adults habitually tried to escape or numb the pain.
Children didn't.
"Come inside," Raelynn said, walking past him without a backward glance.
Rowan was the one who had invited him, and since neither her mother nor her grandfather knew the truth about their marriage, she decided to let it slide. She would just explain everything after they had a peaceful holiday, ensuring they wouldn't keep holding onto hope for their 'son-in-law' in the future.
Raelynn took Lily's hand and led her inside.
Sebastian remained rooted in the hallway for a long moment.
That casual 'Mister' from Lily had felt infinitely sharper and more agonizing than all the times she had said it before she knew the truth.
She knew he was her father.
But little Lily had absolutely no intention of acknowledging him.
Sebastian's eyes darkened for a fraction of a second, but he simply pressed his lips together and stepped over the threshold.
He knew exactly what she was doing. She was fiercely protective of her mother and was making it crystal clear whose side she was on.
And that was fine.
He was proud that his daughter was raised so well, knowing how to fiercely guard the woman she loved.
The moment he walked in, Rowan and Arthur turned around, instantly waving him over. "Sebastian, go wash up. Dinner is ready."
Sebastian offered a polite nod. "Do you need any help?"
"Oh, no need. Raelynn ordered everything catered, it was so convenient." Rowan's eyes crinkled with genuine warmth at the sight of him. But a second later, she frowned. "Why are you wearing so little? It's freezing out there. You're going to catch your death."
Sebastian met Rowan's worried gaze, feeling a strange softness in his chest.
It felt exactly like the memories he had of his own mother.
He paused for a beat before a faint smile touched his lips.
Honestly, they were probably tearing the house apart right now.
But if he wanted to sit here and eat, she wasn't going to complain.
Lost in thought, she suddenly noticed a small plate placed right next to her hand. It was piled high with perfectly extracted crab meat and rich, golden roe.
She turned her head just as Sebastian pulled his hand back. He met her gaze. "The crab is decent."
She blinked. "Uh, thanks."
Truthfully, she was incredibly lazy when it came to food. She loved seafood but hated the sticky, messy hassle of shelling it, so she usually just ignored it entirely to save herself the trouble.
Throughout the years of their marriage, Sebastian had shelled seafood for her more times than she could count.
At first, she thought he was just putting on a show for the cameras or the staff. But looking back, she realized he had never once put a single piece of food on her plate that she didn't like. If it was all just an act, he was terrifyingly precise at catering to her exact tastes.
But then again, that was just who he was.
He was dangerously smart and hyper-observant, capable of effortlessly cataloging everyone's deepest preferences in the back of his mind.

The readers' comments on the novel: Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding
I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
Literally on edge!...
