Chapter 101
Donned in a pristine white business suit—and adorned with the new jewelry Ashton had bought for her the day before–Cassie stepped into Knowles Corporation with measured confidence.
The diamonds caught the light with every movement.
Heads turned. Conversations dipped into hushed murmurs. Curious glances followed her down the corridor, as though her presence was still a surprise–unwelcome, unexpected.
She paid none of it any mind. Her focus was fixed on the impending board meeting.
Just as she was about to reach the boardroom, two figures stepped into her path, forcing her to halt.
“I truly can’t understand how shameless you can be, Cassidy” Mirriam sneered, her eyes raking over Cassie with open disdain.
“Always inserting yourself into company affairs. You’re merely CEO Wallace’s wife, yet you carry yourself as if you’re the CEO” She scoffed. “How presumptuous.”
Cassie met her gaze calmly, unreadable.
“Well,” Mirriam continued, lips curling into something that almost resembled a smile, “since you’re already here, why don’t you go ahead and enter the boardroom?”
The suggestion caught Cassie off guard. Mirriam’s sudden indulgence was suspicious.
Cassie narrowed her eyes slightly, studying her sister’s expression for any hint of intent. Then she shifted her gaze to Madame Rima–searching, assessing.
Rima simply looked back at her, her face carefully blank, offering no clue whatsoever.
Finding nothing in either of them, Cassie turned away. Whatever they were planning, she was certain of one thing–It was waiting for her inside the boardroom.
With that thought steadying her resolve, Cassie stepped past them and continued forward, her heels clicking softly against the polished floor as she walked straight toward the battlefield ahead.
“Now you’re here!”
The inoment Cassie stepped into the boardroom, fury exploded.
“You have the audacity to show your face here, Cassidy!”
Something flew across the room. She barely had time to react before a hard object struck her forehead, pain blooming instantly as gasps rippled through the massive room.

“Cassie!” Zandrie was on his feet in an instant, rushing to her side.
“Are you hurt?” His hand hovered near her face, eyes dark with alarm.
“I’m fine,” she whispered, though she instinctively rubbed her forehead, fingers coming away warm.
Before the moment could settle, the older woman’s voice rang out–shrill, venomous, and authoritative.
“How dare you tamper with the Knowles name!” her voice thundered from the head of the table.
“What right do you think you have?” Her rigid posture radiated outrage, her glare sharp enough to cut steel as it locked onto
Cassie.
“Madame Elvira Knowles,” Zandrie said sternly, stepping slightly in front of Cassie, “please calm yourself.”

“Calm down?” Elvira shrieked, rising to her feet.
“My family’s legacy is being mocked by this bastard, and you dare tell me to calm down?” She jabbed a trembling finger toward
Cassie.
“CEO Wallace, I don’t care if she’s your wife–she is still my son’s bastard!”
The room went dead silent.
“We are in session, Madame Knowles,” Zandrie said coldly.
“And you are disrupting this plenary. If you continue, I will have you removed.”
“Removed?” Elvira laughed sharply, disbelief laced with scorn. “From my own company?”
Before Zandrie could respond, another voice echoed from the doorway–low, calm, and unmistakably commanding.
“It seems Madame Elvira Knowles hasn’t fully understood what this company has gone through in the past few months.”
Every head turned. Ashton Pierce walked in.
His presence alone shifted the atmosphere–tall, composed, intimidating in his restraint. He moved with deliberate confidence, eyes sweeping the room before settling on Cassie.
Elvira’s fury only intensified.
“All I understand,” she spat, slamming her palms onto the table, “is that this bitch mocked my family’s legacy–renaming it to include her mother’s filthy name!”
Ashton stopped beside Cassie.
“Watch your words, Madame Knowles,” he said evenly. “You have been warned.”
His tone was calm. Dangerous.
“I don’t care!” Elvira screamed, years of bitterness spilling over.
“The Knowles family built this company with blood and sweat–only for it to be stolen by a bastard like her!” She leaned forward, eyes wild.
“I should have strangled you the moment your shameless mother gave birth to you. You should have died with her!”
A sharp intake of breath echoed through the room. Ashton’s jaw tightened. The air turned icy.
Cassie froze.
For a moment, the room seemed to recede, the voices blurring into a dull roar as the Knowles matriarch’s words struck with brutal precision. Her grandmother by blood–spitting venom at her with a hatred so raw it bordered on blasphemy.
