Chapter 129
“I don’t want Red getting suspicious if there’s a large withdrawal.”
The doctor smiled. “Thank you, Madame.”
Rima’s eyes remained fixed on the motionless woman.
“Prepare the medical documents properly. No one will question the cause of death. We’ll bury her before Red returns from his business trip.”
The footage ended abruptly, as though the person recording had been suddenly frightened. The frame lurched violently, the image turning erratic and unfocused. Shadows swallowed the scene as the camera tilted downward, the audio dissolving into
muffled noise.
Then the screen went completely dark-cutting off without warning, leaving behind a heavy, unsettling silence.
“No! That’s fake! It’s AI-generated!” Rima screamed, her voice now frantic and shrill.
“Red, it’s not true!”
But Red didn’t move.
He sat frozen in his chair, his face drained of color, his eyes wide with disbelief as he stared at the screen.
“Your Honor,” Atty. Cole said calmly, “the original recording device was submitted along with the hard disk. It has been
examined and verified to be authentic and unaltered.”
He gestured toward another sealed package still in the clerk’s custody.
The judge nodded.
“The court has reviewed the device. The phone used to record the video has been preserved and shows no signs of tampering or alteration prior to its submission.”
“This footage was taken by a seven-year-old boy,” Atty. Hans stated, his voice calm yet weighted with solemn gravity.
“An innocent recording-made without understanding-yet it captured a crime so immensely horrifying that no child should
ever have had to witness it.”
“No…” Rima whispered, shaking her head repeatedly.
“No… that’s fabricated…”
But no one was looking at her anymore.
The evidence had spoken.
“Mom…” Mirriam’s voice trembled as she stared at her mother, fear and disbelief filling her eyes.
Beside her, Red’s voice came out hollow.
“You… and my mother… did this?”
Rima turned to him desperately.
“It’s not real! Red, believe me! It’s fabricated!”
But her words fell into emptiness.
Because the truth-clear, undeniable, and devastating-had just been revealed before the eyes of the court.

Cassie slowly turned her bloodshot eyes toward Rima. For a brief moment, she watched the woman’s arrogance shatter— crumbled and scattered beyond repair.
Even her lawyers stood frozen in stunned silence, while Red and Mirriam looked as though the ground beneath them had given
way.
Her eyes burned, the sting sharp and persistent But she refused to cry the way she had the first time she watched the video.
Today, she stood calm. Composed.
Yet even as justice unfolded before her eyes, the victory did nothing to ease the ache buried deep within her chest.
Justice could expose the truth. It could punish the guilty. But it could never return the woman who had carried her, who had given her life.
Elvira and Rima Knowles had stolen that from her.
They had stolen her chance to grow up with a mother’s warmth… a mother’s love.
“You did it, Cass.”
Zandrie’s voice reached her through the heavy noise of her thoughts. A gentle hand rested on her shoulder before he pulled her into a brief, steady embrace.
“Justice will take its course,” he said softly.
“Your mother can finally rest. Justice has been served.” His arms tightened in a reassuring squeeze.
Cassie did not respond.
Yes, she had fought for this moment. Yes, the truth had finally come to light. Yes, the people responsible would pay for what they had done.
But none of it erased the image that haunted her-the sight of her mother lying helpless, betrayed, abandoned, and dying at the
hands of the Knowles.
Justice had been won.
But the pain of how her mother suffered… That was something she would carry for the rest of her life.
