Bound By A Broken Night novel Chapter 130

Chapter 130

The elevator doors had barely opened when Mirriam rushed forward, her eyes swollen and rimmed red.

“Are you happy now, Cassidy?” she demanded, her voice trembling with fury and exhaustion.

“Look what you did to Grandma and Mom!”

Cassie had just stepped out when Mirriam blocked her path, anger and desperation written across her face.

“You’re heartless, Cassidy,” Red followed, his voice hoarse but sharp with accusation.

“I can’t believe you could do this to your own family. Your grandmother is too old to be in prison!”

Both father and daughter looked disheveled-clothes wrinkled, faces pale, eyes shadowed by sleepless nights. They looked like people who had not rested for days. Perhaps not since the court hearing that sentenced Rima Knowles to life imprisoninent.

And just yesterday, Madame Valerie Knowles had been arrested as well. Like Rima, she had faced the court-and judgment had come swiftly.

The scandal had exploded across the country. News outlets ran the story day and night. Headlines screamed of betrayal, murder, and the fall of one of Bay City’s most powerful families. Public outrage spread like wildfire, devouring the last remnants of the

Knowles name.

Through it all, Cassie had remained inside her hotel suite, watching in silence.

For days, she chose not to step outside, shielding herself from the chaos and noise. Within the quiet walls of her room, she allowed herself to breathe… and to acknowledge her victory.

Justice for her mother had finally been claimed.

But today, she had decided to go out.

She was on her way to meet Zandrie and return to the company when perhaps inevitability-placed Mirriam and Red Knowles in her path.

It was clear they had been waiting.

“Are you satisfied now?” Red demanded, his voice rising as anger overcame restraint.

“You’ve destroyed the Knowles name. Your grandmother is old-she’s fran and sick-and yet you sent her to prison. How do you expect her to survive there?”

His raised voice began to draw the attention of nearby guests. Curious eyes turned toward them, whisper’s already starting to spread.

“You’re heartless, Cassidy,” Mirriam added bitterly, her eyes blazing with hatred.

“An ungrateful bitch. After everything they did for you, this is how you repay them?”

The accusations came one after another, sharp and merciless.

Yet in the middle of their outrage, Cassie stood still. Calm. Composed. Unmoved.

She listened as if their words were not meant to wound her, as if their anger could no longer reach her.

When she finally spoke, her voice was steady-quiet, but firm enough to cut through their fury.

“Growing up, Madame Valerie and Madame Rima made it very clear that they never considered me family,” she said, meeting their eyes without hesitation.

“And whatever scraps I received from your household, I worked for them.”

Her gaze did not waver.

“I raised myself while serving your family. I survived on my own. So no-” her voice hardened slightly, “I don’t owe any of you anything.”

Red and Mirriam stiffened, momentarily stunned by the calm certainty in her tone.

“And my mother was murdered,” Cassie continued, her eyes turning cold

“Those two women took her life. And you expect me to ignore that? To let it go?”

A dangerous quiet settled in her voice.

“Just because she was a maid… does her life mean nothing?”

The question hung heavily between them.

“What they’re facing now is not cruelty,” she went on, the fury beneath her composure finally surfacing.

“It’s consequence.”

Her eyes darkened, years of buried pain flickering within them.

“They murdered my mother. And even if they spent the rest of their short lives behind bars, it still wouldn’t be enough to pay for what they did.”

Silence followed-thick, heavy, and impossible to escape.

“So don’t come to me and tell me that all of this is my fault,” Cassie said, her voice low but edged with cold contempt.

“I am simply a daughter who lost her mother because of the ruthlessness and arrogance of Rima and Valerie Knowles.” Her eyes did not leave Red’s.

“We are the victims here. I am a victim. My mother was a victim of their cruelty.”

A tense silence settled as her words sank in. Then her gaze sharpen.

“And you, Mr. Red Knowles-what did you ever do to protect her?”

Red stiffened.

Cassie took a step closer, her composure unbroken, but the pain behind her calm now unmistakable.

“My mother didn’t betray your wife alone,” she continued.

“You were part of that mistake too. You were equally responsible.” Her voice hardened.

“So why was she the only one punished? Why was she the only one hated? Why was she the one abandoned to suffer?”

Her lips curved into a bitter, humorless smile.

“Because she was a maid.”

The word fell like a quiet accusation.

“An insignificant person in your world. Someone beneath you. Someone disposable.”

She let out a soft, scornful breath.

“To your family… her life was worthless.”

“So at this point,” Cassie continued, her chin lifting slightly, her voice steady despite the storm beneath it, “I will give her life the value you all denied her. Because she mattered to me. And she deserves justice.”

A cold sneer touched her lips, but her eyes glistened with restrained emotion.

Mirriam let out a sharp, humorless laugh, her gaze filled with the same arrogance and resentment.

“No matter what you do, you will always be a nobody, Cassidy, so is your mother” she snapped.
