Her eyes softened as she glanced toward Kai, who was animatedly talking to Madame Carina across the room.
“With the influence and power of the Pierce family, an heir isn’t something that can remain hidden,” she continued quietly.
“And if Kai is going to stand in that world one day, he needs to be recognized properly.”
She turned to look at Ashton, her gaze steady and unwavering.
“Kai is already prepared for it.”
There was no hesitation in her voice-only calm certainty. She had not raised her son sheltered by comfort alone, but strengthened by discipline, humility, and quiet resilience.

Because long before the Pierce name would be formally placed upon him, she had already raised him to be worthy of carrying it.
Ashton held her gaze for a moment, something deep and unspoken passing through his eyes.
“Thank you, Cass,” he said softly.
The simple words carried more than gratitude. They held respect. Trust. And a silent acknowledgment of the years she had carried the responsibility alone.
Cassie returned his smile-gentle, but composed, as always.
With the storm finally settling and long-buried truths brought into the open, the heaviness in the air began to ease.
But despite the emotional reunion and the shocking revelation that had shaken the Pierces to their core, Madame Carina has to leave. The elderly matriarch needed rest–and more importantly, so did Kai. The boy had endured far too much for one small heart in a single day.
Zandrie escorted Zab back to the hotel to settle in after their exhausting flight.
The hospital suite slowly emptying until only Cassie and Ashton remained with their son.
Kai lay asleep between them, his breathing soft and even, lavish long lashes resting against cheeks. The innocence on his face was almost unbearable.
Ashton stood by the bedside, unable to look away.
“I can’t believe…” he whispered, his voice thick with awe.
“I can’t believe I never had even the slightest inkling that Kai was related to me—when I met him at the airport almost four years ago.”
His eyes remained fixed on the boy’s sleeping face, as if trying to memorize every detail now with a father’s understanding.
Cassie gave a small, breathy chuckle, though her eyes shimmered with emotion.
“Well, who could have predicted that?” she said softly.
“With thousands-no, millions of passengers traveling around the world every day… what were the odds that you’d meet your own son without even realizing it?”
She shook her head gently, the absurdity of fate almost laughable now that the truth was out.
Ashton exhaled slowly, still visibly bewildered by the magnitude of it all.
“I was instantly drawn to him,” he admitted.
“From the moment he spoke to me. I just thought it was because he was adorable… and smart.” A faint, emotional smile

touched his lips.
“And maybe because of the uncanny resemblance he had to me.”
He reached out carefully, almost reverently, and brushed his fingers through Kai’s hark-featherlight, afraid even the slightest pressure might disturb his sleep
“But now…” Ashton’s voice dropped even lower.
“Now I understand why my heart reacted the way it did.”
Cassie watched him quietly. There was no arrogance in him tonight. No calculated composure. Only a man stunned by fate… and humbled by fatherhood.
For years, they had walked separate paths, bound by a past neither of them could escape. And yet somehow, destiny had allowed him to meet his son before he even knew he was one.
Now, as they stood side by side in the soft, dim glow of the room, a quiet sense of peace settled between them-gentle, fragile, yet deeply comforting.
Seeing him so absorbed as he watched their sleeping son, Cassie moved closer, her steps slow and almost hesitant—as if afraid to disturb the moment.
Then, without warning, she slipped her arms around his waist from behind. Her cheek rested lightly against his back.
“Cass…”
Ashton stiffened at once, caught off guard by the sudden closeness. A sharp warning rang in his mind-danger, it whispered- reminding him how fragile his restraint truly was.
