“The scans and laboratory results are all normal. It would be best to bring the boy home so he can rest properly, CEO Pierce,” the doctor said reassuringly after Kái had repeatedly insisted that he wanted to leave the hospital and go where his mother was
staying.
“Thank you, Doctor,” Ashton replied with a nos relief easing the tightness in his chest.
He turned to Kai, who was already sitting up on the bed, his face bright with excitement.
“I don’t like hospitals,” Kai declared, his voice full of energy again. “I want to be with my Mama!”
“Yes, baby,” Cassie said warmly, pulling him into a gentle hug.
“We’re going home now so you can rest comfortably.”
“Let’s go. Come here, buddy,” Ashton said, opening his arms to lift him down from the bed.
“I can walk, Papa. I’m a big boy now,” Kai protested proudly.
Still, he didn’t resist when Ashton scooped him up with ease.
“I know you are,” Ashton said with a grin.
“But I didn’t get to carry you when you were a baby. Let Papa enjoy it now. And besides -Papa is strong.” He playfully tapped
Kai’s nose, then shifted him to one arm as if to prove his point.
“You’re showing off, Papa,” Kai giggled, clearly amused.
Ashton gave a sheepish smile, while Cassie shook her head, watching the two with a mixture of fondness and quiet disbelief.
“Let’s go. It’s getting late,” Cassie said, walking ahead toward the door.
Ashton followed close behind, Kai still comfortably settled in his arm.
To anyone who saw them walking down the corridor together, they looked like the picture of a happy family-warm, complete, and perfectly at ease with one another.
But Ashton knew better. This was only the beginning. There was still so much he needed to do… before he could truly claim both his son–and the woman he loved.
“Yehey! We’re going home!” Kai cheered excitedly as soon as they were settled inside Ashton’s vehicle, his earlier tantrum completely forgotten.
He bounced slightly in his seat before turning to his father, eyes shining with anticipation.
“Papa, do I have my own room in our house?”
The question made Ashton pause. He instinctively glanced at Cassie, confusion flickering across his face.
Cassie, however, remained calm.
“Can you sleep on your own?” she asked gently, brushing her fingers over the bandage on his forehead.
“You can stay with Mama and Papa for the meantime if you want.”
Her tone was natural-casual, even. And that only deepened Ashton’s confusion.
They were speaking as if everything had already been decided. As if their situation wasn’t complicated. Worse, Cassie was indulging the idea without offering their son any explanation.
“I’m a big boy now, Mama,” Kai said proudly, sitting up straighter.

“And Mamo said Mama and Papa should sleep together. So I have to get used to sleeping on my own.” He nodded firmly, completely certain of his logic.
Cassie and Ashton shared a glance.
“When you were away, I already sleep in my own room,” he added with a hint of arrogance.
“Mamo just watches me through the camera. I know she’s in the other room.”
Cassie’s eyes softened with pride.
“Really? Wow… my baby is such a big boy now,” she said, pulling him into a warm hug.
“You can stay with Papa, Mama,” Kai continued sweetly, looking up at her
“I’ll sleep in my own room.”
Then he turned to Ashton.
“Papa, is our house far from the hospital?”
Ashton opened his mouth-but no words came out. His mind was still struggling to catch up with the direction this conversation had taken.
“It’s just over there,” Cassie answered for him, pointing toward the Pierce Tower where Ashton’s penthouse was located.
Kai followed her finger.
“Whoa…” His eyes widened, sparkling like tiny stars. “That’s huge!”
“Papa owns that building,” Cassie continued, her voice deliberately light.
“And he lives at the very top.”
Kai gasped.
“We’re so rich! We own a whole building!”
Cassie laughed softly and shot Ashton a teasing glance.
