Chapter 214

“Pierce Corporation is doomed…”

The words rippled through the crowd in hushed, anxious murmurs, passed from one executive to another like an inevitable verdict no one dared to say aloud with certainty.

All eyes turned to Ashton. Expecting-anything. But he remained exactly where he stood. Calm, Composed. Untouched by the chaos swirling around him.

Not a single line on his face shifted, not a flicker of emotion breaking through his control. His gaze stayed steady, distant almost, as though everything unfolding before him was nothing more than background noise irrelevant, unworthy of his

attention.

Whatever calculations ran behind those steady eyes, no one could tell.

Beside him, Cassidy stood just as still. No panic. No outrage.

Only silence.

And somehow, that quiet composure felt far more dangerous than any reaction at all.

“You heard me, CEO Pierce,” Roel Danes called out, his tone dripping with provocation when Ashton gave him nothing in

return.

“Do you understand what that means?” He took a step forward, basking in the attention, in the silence that followed his declaration.

“Your power ends today,” he went on, a sharp, triumphant snicker escaping him.

“This very moment will be remembered as the beginning of Pierce Corporation’s downfall-written into the history of Bay City for everyone to see.

The room seemed to hold its breath. But Ashton didn’t react.

No flicker of anger. No sign of concern. Not even mild irritation. He stood there, composed and distant, as though Roel’s words had no more weight than idle noise. The indifference was almost insulting.

And it unsettled more people than any outburst could have.

Roel’s smile tightened for a fraction of a second before he shifted his focus.

“As for Greene Corporation…” he said, turning toward Cassidy.

“Effective immediately, Mirriam Knowles will be appointed as CEO. We will conduct a full internal review and decide who remains… and who will be removed.” His gaze slid meaningfully toward Zandrie and the other executives, making the threat

unmistakable.

All eyes turned to Cassie. Waiting. Watching. Expecting outrage-defiance-anything.

But she gave them nothing.

She simply stood there, calm and unmoved, as if the company they were discussing wasn’t hers to begin with.

The silence stretched… and stretched… Until it became uncomfortable.

“The first thing I’ll do,” Mirriam cut in, her voice laced with disdain, “is remove that filthy name-Greene-from the company.” She wrinkled her nose slightly, as though the very word offended her.

“It doesn’t suit the prestige of a multimillion-dollar corporation. It sounds… grubby.” She let out a light, mocking laugh.

“We’ll change it to Danes Corporation.”

Maricris looped her arm through Mirriam’s, leaning it with a grin, while Tanya slipped to her other side.

“That’s a brilliant idea,” Marie is chimed, clearly pleased.

“Of course it is,” Tanya added with a soft chuckle.

“And soon, you’ll be changing your name too, won’t you?”

Mirriam laughed along with them, basking in the moment as if everything had already been secured.

Across the room, however, the atmosphere had begun to shift.

“And as for Malakai Group,” Roel continued, reclaiming the floor with a decisive tone, “one of my first directives will be to terminate the so-called ‘farmer privileges.””

A ripple of unease passed through the executives.

“It’s an unnecessary expense,” he added flatly.

“Resources that could be redirected toward more significant developments particularly the advancement of Wallace Plantation.” His eyes locked onto Zandrie.

A challenge. A warning.

“You cannot do that,” Zandrie shot back immediately, his jaw tightening, anger barely contained.

“Don’t you dare touch Wallace Plantation.”

The tension snapped taut.

“President Roel Danes can implement any changes he deems necessary,” Director Belsky interjected coolly, stepping in before the situation escalated further.

“Malakai Group is now under his leadership.”

The statement landed heavily. Authority had shifted. Power had been claimed.

And yet-Amid the rising tension, the veiled threats, and the quiet panic spreading through the room…

Ashton Pierce remained still. And beside him, Cassidy stood just as calm-her silence no longer empty, but deliberate.

Then Ashton stepped forward. The shift was subtle-but it commanded the entire room.

He stopped just short of the two men and lifted his gaze, locking it directly onto Director Belsky. An omnibus smirk slowly carved across his face, controlled and deliberate.

“What do you want, CEO Pierce?” Director Belsky demanded, though a flicker of unease betrayed him.

“Do you have something to say?”

“Don’t try your intimidation tactics on us,” Director Lukin added coldly.

“Displeasing us is the same as displeasing the Petrovs.”

A heavy silence fell. The air grew tight-charged. Around them, the executives shifted uncomfortably.

“What is CEO Pierce doing?” one whispered under his breath, leaning toward his colleague.

“Those are Petrov representatives. He’ll get himself into serious trouble.”

“He can’t possibly be challenging them…” another murmured, anxiety creeping into his voice.

“This will only make things worse.”

Chapter 214

Unease spread like wildfire. Every eye in the room was fixed on Ashton-some in fear, others in anticipation.

But Ashton remained utterly unbothered. Unaffected by the tension pressing in from all sides.
