Bound by the Past, Locked by the Heart novel Chapter 122

Willa glared at their emotionless, deadpan faces, boiling with frustration. But she also knew that if she didn't head back soon, Randal would get suspicious.

That would only make leaving even harder.

"Fine, let's go back."

By the time Willa returned to the apartment, it was pitch black outside.

She leaned back against the sofa, staring blankly into space.

A message from Randal popped up on her screen.

[Stay inside for the next couple of days. If you want to go anywhere, wait until I get back and I'll take you.]

It seemed the two men at the door had already reported her every move.

Some time later, Sophie called. She kept her voice extremely low, like a thief in the night. "Wills, how did it go? Did you get away?"

"No." Willa couldn't help but laugh. "Sophie, you can speak normally. Randal can't hear you."

"Huh? Why? Didn't you say he wasn't there?" Sophie's voice returned to its usual volume.

She told the truth. "He left two bodyguards at the door. They're watching my every move. I tried all afternoon, but I couldn't shake them."

Sophie instantly exploded. "Is he out of his mind? He runs off to get engaged and locks you in the house? What the hell is he thinking?"

Willa tried to soothe her. "Sophie, calm down."

"Calm down my ass!" Sophie's voice rose with every word. "You're under house arrest, and you want me to be calm? I'm calling the cops right now!"

"The police won't do anything," Willa sighed. "He hasn't legally restricted my freedom, he just hired people to follow me. Plus, with the Yates family's influence, they could make any problem disappear."

Sophie was momentarily speechless. "So... you're just not going to leave?"

"I still have to leave." Her voice was soft, as if she were trying to convince herself.

A long silence stretched between them before Sophie hesitantly asked, "Willa... do you have a plan?"

"I might have one."
