Bound by the Past, Locked by the Heart novel Chapter 173

Willa had already figured out what she wanted to ask him once they got back. They needed to lay everything out in the open and clear the air. They couldn't repeat the mistakes of five years ago—when neither asked and neither explained, letting misunderstandings fester until they tore them apart.

Yet, the moment she walked through the door, changed her shoes, and sat down on the sofa, she suddenly felt that certain truths no longer mattered.

Once Randal grew bored of her, they would inevitably separate anyway. Why tear each other apart right now?

She lost the urge to interrogate him.

Randal ended up breaking the silence first. "Wills, I'm sorry. I did find out about the comments. Lydia hired someone to do it. I didn't tell you because I was afraid you'd confront her and end up getting hurt..."

"I'm tired," she interrupted, instantly losing all interest in the conversation. "We walked all day, and my legs hurt. I'm going to lie down for a bit."

She knew full well that Scarlett was deeply involved in this mess.

Randal had kept it a secret simply because he didn't want her confronting Scarlett, which would put him in a difficult position.

Randal continued to justify himself. "I've already warned the Ramsey family. This won't happen again."

"Okay, handle it however you see fit."

Willa replied flatly and turned to head toward her room.

The moment she lay down on the bed, her eyes swelled with tears.

She rolled over and buried her face in the pillow, tears quickly soaking the sheets.

Randal was still Randal.

Five years had passed, and nothing had changed.

They still couldn't be completely honest with each other.

She couldn't pinpoint exactly what she was so disappointed about, but it felt like a heavy weight was slowly dragging her heart down.

And she lacked the strength to try and pull it back up.

Two days later, Sophie called to inform her that someone had made an offer of nearly half a million dollars on her house, asking if she wanted to sell.
