Hearing those words, Willa snapped her head up, using every ounce of her strength to scream hoarsely, "I have nothing to do with him! This baby is yours. You can't touch him. Randal, you'll go to hell for this."
She babbled incoherently as tears streamed down her face, standing on the absolute brink of a breakdown.
"Mine?" Randal let out a short, mocking scoff. He released his grip on her forehead and pulled back slightly, his eyes still a terrifying, somber red.
"Willa, stop lying to me. If it's mine, why did you hide it until now? If you have nothing to do with him, why did he personally come to my door demanding I hand you over?"
He raised a hand, using his thumb to gently wipe the tears from her cheek. His touch was so tender it felt almost affectionate, yet the words that left his lips dragged her straight into the abyss: "Tomorrow, I'm taking you to the hospital."
"Randal... please... don't..." She finally surrendered all her pride and stubbornness, grabbing onto his sleeve in a futile gesture as she sobbed uncontrollably.
"Don't touch my baby... please... If you don't want it... I can raise it myself..."
Seeing her beg so pitifully, the fury in Randal's chest only burned with a more twisted, frantic intensity.
"Raise it yourself?"
His body began to tremble uncontrollably, a violent surge of emotion violently crashing against his last shred of reason.
"Willa, why are you always trying to escape me?"
He wanted to destroy everything in sight, to erase every single tear she had ever shed for another man.
His hand drifted upward unconsciously, and as he stared at the faint finger marks on her neck, a massive wave of panic swiftly gripped him.
What was he doing just now?
He had almost truly hurt her.
But he simply couldn't control the violent beast lurking in his heart; it was desperately tearing at its cage, hellbent on destroying the world.
"No... I can't..." Randal forced out a few broken syllables, his eyes swirling with agony and immense struggle.
Willa's heart plummeted. Refusing to give up, she redialed, but this time, the automated voice bluntly stated the phone was turned off.
Her breathing hitched. Sophie never turned off her phone unless... something had happened.
What exactly had Randal done to the Sommers family?
The chaotic thoughts tangled in her mind until she could barely breathe, a sharp cramp suddenly flaring in her abdomen.
Forcing herself to stay calm, she scrolled through her contacts and pulled up Corbin Sommers's number.
She had saved it on the day of Randal's engagement party but had never actually called it.
She hesitated, her thumb hovering over the screen.
Randal already misunderstood her relationship with Corbin. If she made this call and he found out, it would undoubtedly throw fuel on the fire and bring even more trouble to the Sommers family.
