Bound by the Past, Locked by the Heart novel Chapter 229

Just as Willa opened her mouth to explain, Sean cut her off sharply: "Willa, don't say a word."

Randal deliberated for a long time before finally answering, "Yes."

The moment the word left his lips, Sean's fist flew forward.

It was a lightning-fast, brutal strike, landing a solid hook straight to Randal's jaw.

With a muffled thud, Randal stumbled a few steps to the side, blood instantly pooling at the corner of his mouth.

"Sean!" Willa shrieked, darting forward to hold him back.

Sean shook off her hand, his chest heaving heavily. "That punch was for Willa. You have a fiancée, yet you got her pregnant without giving her a proper title. Are you even human?"

Randal wiped the blood from his mouth and stood up straight. His face was chillingly stoic, betraying zero emotion.

"Sean Thorne, what happens between her and me..."

"Shut your mouth!" Sean interrupted again, his agitation skyrocketing.

"Willa has too soft a heart, and she doesn't have anyone around to back her up right now. But let me tell you something, Randal Yates—she isn't someone you can just bully and trample on as you please."

"You better give me a straight answer today. What exactly do you plan to do about this child?"

Randal shoved down the boiling impatience in his chest, his tone dropping even colder: "I will take responsibility."

"Take responsibility?" Sean sneered, his voice dripping with pure disgust. "How? By making this child a bastard?"

Randal's patience completely evaporated. He scoffed icily, "This is a private matter between her and me. Does this have anything to do with you? What gives you the right to interfere?"

He raised his eyes, his gaze venomous, and slowly spat out two words: "Former lover?"

The moment those words dropped, the air in the room completely solidified, the atmosphere plunging below freezing.

Sean was utterly stunned. He looked at Willa in shock, an expression of total bewilderment washing over his face.

Sean stood frozen, his chest rising and falling violently. He took several deep breaths to force down his fury.

"Randal Yates, since you investigated me, why didn't you dig deep enough to find out why I flew out to see her every month?"

Randal remained dead silent.

Back then, Miles Zane had only shown him the photos, the monthly travel logs, and their financial transactions.

He had barely recovered from a critical illness and was entirely consumed by pure hatred. He had possessed zero mental bandwidth to dig any deeper.

Sean pressed on: "Do you have any idea how much she suffered alone in a foreign country? She was working two jobs just to survive while managing her studies. She was practically starving, yet she refused to say a single word of complaint to me."

"I went to see her because her father begged me to. I actually know what it means to repay a life debt. But you? Willa saved your damn life, and this is how you repay her?"

By the time he finished, Sean's eyes were bloodshot, his voice cracking with emotion.
