Then the most likely possibility was that someone wanted to stop the Yates-Sterling wedding and prevent Randal from successfully entering Vanguard Properties.
Why hadn't she thought of this layer before?
If Scarlett really wanted to deal with her, there was no need to rush. Once she was securely married to Randal, she would have plenty of opportunities.
But was the person pulling the strings behind the scenes connected to Scarlett at all?
At that thought, Willa felt her blood run cold, and her head began to spin dizzily.
Noticing her distress, Sophie quickly spoke up. "Willa, why do you look so pale?"
Willa snapped back to reality and shook her head. "I'm fine. Just a little tired."
Sophie was filled with sympathy and hurriedly comforted her. "Alright, stop overthinking these miserable things. The most important thing right now is for you to rest and protect the baby. Leave everything else to me; I'll figure out a way to handle it."
Willa nodded without another word, but a heavy stone weighed down on her heart.
Just then, the door opened.
Both of their gazes shifted toward the entrance.
Randal walked in, obvious exhaustion etched across his face.
As he bent down to change his shoes, he glanced up and noticed Sophie on the sofa. His brow furrowed slightly on instinct.
Sophie saw him too. Her relaxed expression instantly shifted to a guarded scowl, her entire posture radiating resistance.
Caught in the middle, Willa immediately felt a massive headache coming on.
These two had never gotten along. The moment they crossed paths, they were at each other's throats, never sparing a single kind word.
"Ms. Sommers is here," Randal said flatly, his tone void of emotion.
Sophie scoffed and ignored him.
Randal didn't seem to care. He hung up his jacket, walked over, and sat down next to Willa.
He reached out to feel her forehead, then glanced at the barely touched warm broth on the coffee table. "Did you eat dinner?"
"I ate. I had a sandwich Mrs. Gable made."
