Bound by the Past, Locked by the Heart novel Chapter 261

Willa looked up at him, quietly waiting for him to continue.

Corbin settled into his chair, his fingers laced together as his thumb unconsciously rubbed the back of his hand.

"Actually, it was Randal who asked me to save you. Before the wedding started, he called me specifically, telling me to call the police and find you immediately. He even promised to give the Norvale East District land to the Sommers family."

He paused, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly as he swallowed the rest of his words. A hesitant look crossed his face, as if he were hiding something unspeakable.

This was the first time Willa had ever seen a hint of bashfulness on the usually stoic man's face.

Willa found the atmosphere inexplicably awkward. She lowered her gaze, picked up the water glass beside her, and took a sip, waiting for him to finish.

Sophie noticed something was off too and gave him a hard pat. "Corbin, what exactly are you trying to say? Stop dragging it out, you're killing me!"

Corbin took a deep breath, as if finally throwing caution to the wind. His lips moved several times before he forced out a single sentence. "Randal said... the baby you're carrying is mine."

Hearing this, Willa choked on her water, bursting into a violent fit of coughing.

Sophie jumped and quickly patted her back. "Willa, are you okay?"

Willa waved her hand, coughing for quite a while before finally catching her breath.

The flush on Corbin's face only deepened.

Sophie pointed at him, laughing until she was doubled over. "Corbin, are you blushing? You're actually blushing?"

Corbin's flush was now tinged with a dark, warning glare. "Sophie, shut up."
