Corbin walked up to her side, glancing down at the hand Randal had clamped around her wrist. His brow furrowed slightly as he reached out and lightly wrapped an arm around her waist.
"Mr. Yates, why are you grabbing my wife?"
Even though she knew Corbin was deliberately putting on an act for Randal, the intimate touch and title still made her entire body stiffen awkwardly.
"Wife..." Randal muttered those words, as if just digesting their weight. His fingers stiffened before slowly letting go.
The moment Willa pulled her hand back, a hollow emptiness she didn't want to admit surged in her chest.
"Mr. Yates," Corbin spoke again, his enunciation crisp, throwing the underlying meaning right back at him. "Stop coveting things that don't belong to you. Otherwise... things will get very ugly."
Randal's jawline instantly tightened, his eyes glaring furiously at Corbin.
He took a half-step forward, the aura around him suddenly turning dangerous.
"Corbin, you're stealing her away. Isn't that despicable?"
Corbin's expression remained unchanged, letting out a soft chuckle. "You're joking, Mr. Yates. May I ask, what exactly were you to Willa when I met her? How can you call this stealing?"
Those words brutally sliced open the ugliest truth standing between them.
He was right. Willa had never held a legitimate position in his life.
So what right did Randal have to question anyone now?
Willa's breath hitched slightly as she looked up at Randal.
