Bound by the Past, Locked by the Heart novel Chapter 69

The lingering hostility in his brow vanished the moment he saw her red, tear-filled eyes, giving way to an inexplicable illusion of heartache.

"Who messed with you this time? Is this how Zack protects you?"

Willa immediately turned away, unwilling to let him see her looking so pathetic, and tried to sidestep him toward the restroom.

But before she could even take a step, his hand clamped around her wrist.

His grip was iron-clad, as if he feared she might vanish into thin air.

"Let go. We're right outside the restrooms." Her voice was thick with emotion, the implication obvious.

People were constantly walking by; if anyone saw them, it would just spark more rumors.

Randal caught her drift instantly. Gripping her wrist, he half-dragged her away, and by some twist of fate, they ended up right back in the same VIP lounge.

Scarlett was long gone, but the residual tension in the air still made Willa’s chest tight and suffocating.

"Spill it. What exactly happened?"

Willa kept her head down, refusing to meet his gaze. "Nothing."

"Then why are you crying?" He took a step closer, a teasing edge to his expression. "Don't tell me you just got dust in your eyes."

"It has nothing to do with you," she deflected, though her voice betrayed her guilt.

Those words seemed to strike a nerve. Randal suddenly let out a low, self-deprecating laugh.

"Right. I forgot you're officially Zack's girlfriend now."

He backed her up step by step until she hit the edge of the sofa, her legs giving out as she collapsed onto the cushions.

He leaned over, trapping her securely between his arms.

"Didn't I tell you to cut ties with Zack?"

Willa's heart hammered frantically against her ribs. She pressed her hands flat against his chest, pushing with all her might.

"Randal, get off me."

He didn't budge an inch. Staring down at her, his gaze trailed slowly from her eyes to her lips, before settling on the rapid rise and fall of her chest.

The look was brazenly predatory, laced with a dark, obsessive possessiveness that made Willa shudder as the scent of danger wrapped around her.
