Just as she was running out of air, he swept her into his arms, carrying her to the bed and laying her down gently. He hovered over her, his eyes churning with dark desire and an undeniable, poorly hidden tenderness.
"You chose this path, Willa. Now that you're back, don't even think about running away again."
Without a shred of hesitation, she reached up and wrapped her arms around his neck.
He kissed her, mumbling her name like a reverent prayer against her lips.
She threaded her fingers through his dark hair, meeting his passion with a clumsy desperation.
Somewhere along the line, their clothes ended up discarded on the floor.
He took his time, tracing every inch of her skin, reacquainting himself with the curves he used to know so well.
"Randal..." she whispered.
That single utterance shattered every last ounce of his hardened facade.
The heat in his gaze intensified, and his breaths turned rough and demanding.
His hands slid down her waist, gripping her hips to pull her flush against his dominant frame.
……
She let out a soft moan, her nails scoring red streaks down his back as her breathing splintered.
Her gasps grew increasingly erratic, the sounds escaping her throat shifting in pitch.
He silenced her soft whimpers with another searing kiss, swallowing every sound she made.
……
Hours later, he finally pulled back, chest heaving.
She felt delightfully wrecked, her energy completely spent.
He rolled over, dragging her tightly into his embrace, his arms wrapping around her so securely it was almost suffocating.
She squirmed slightly, trying to adjust.
"Stop moving." His voice was raspy, the heat in his eyes still burning bright. "If you keep that up, neither of us is getting any sleep tonight."
Willa instantly stilled. Exhaustion dragged heavily at her eyelids, and her consciousness began to fade.
Right before she drifted off, a very soft voice murmured near her ear.
"Don't leave me again."
