Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 302

After standing on the bridge for about half an hour, Anne foolishly wondered what would happen if she were to fall into the river below.

Would Donovan regret his actions? Would he do everything in his power to look for her?

All of a sudden, she heard a car horn blaring nearby.

She turned around and saw Donovan's car making its way toward her. It was a Bentley with a license plate that she recognized.

Upon seeing this, she immediately started to cry again. She thought Donovan had come all this way to look for her because he was concerned about her. Suddenly overcome with emotion, she gripped the railing and tried to climb over it with all her might.

She wanted to take a gamble. She wanted to do something drastic in order to see how Donovan truly felt about her. If she could redeem the slightest bit of his concern by doing so, she wouldn't feel so utterly hopeless.

Not to her surprise, as soon as she tried to climb up the railing, the Bentley instantly picked up speed and sped toward her. The vehicle screeched to a halt on the bridge. Then, the door to the driver's seat flew open almost immediately.

Once the man exited the vehicle, he dashed toward Anne and caught her before she could leap over the railing!

Anne started to struggle against the man's hold as soon as he touched her.

"Let me go!" she cried. "What's the point of me being alive if you don't want me anymore?"

She continued, "You claimed that I framed Giselle for a lot of things. So, I'll just pay for my mistakes with my life! Since you want me out of your sight, I'll just disappear off the face of the earth forever! I—"

"Are you insane?" the man behind her yelled.

Then, he roughly pulled her slender body down from the railing and shoved her onto the ground.

That wasn't Donovan's voice.

Anne hastily lifted her head to take a good look at the man. To her surprise, the person who was standing before her was Zachary!

Zachary was looking at Anne with a face full of disdain. He then took a quick glance at the river down below. The height was enough to make a grown man like him feel dizzy.

"Look at how high up we are! Do you really have the guts to jump off this bridge? No one will even be able to recover your body if you do! What a fucking lunatic," he barked.

Slumped on the ground, Anne didn't say a word as tears streamed down her face. She thought that Donovan had come to stop her from doing something rash. To her dismay, the person who showed up was another man.

She felt pathetic. Even Zachary, someone with no real connection to her, cared about her safety. In contrast, the man she'd loved and cared about for years seemed completely indifferent.

He stared at her crying face and didn't want to provoke her any further.

"You should've called off your engagement to my uncle a long time ago. Why are you still hovering around him? It's annoying to see. Get up—we're leaving!" he spat emotionlessly.

While he was speaking, he reached over and pulled her to her feet.
